We texted 1,000 Americans about U.S. actions in Venezuela. Here’s what they said. A Washington Post poll shows Americans are split on sending military forces to Venezuela to capture Maduro. Most say it should have required Congress’s approval.

Flash poll from @washingtonpost.com finds:

- Americans are roughly divided on whether striking Venezuela, capturing Maduro was a good idea. (40% approve, 42% disapprove)

- More skepticism for whether U.S. should take control of Venezuela. (24% support, 45% oppose)

How federal agencies have already changed their websites under Trump “Diversity” has been deleted. “Climate resilience” is now a popular substitute for “climate change.” And “pregnant people” has been replaced by “pregnant women.”

A Post review of 8,000+ federal webpages changed since Inauguration Day found 662 examples of deletions and additions that reflect policy changes at the heart of Trump’s campaign. By @jeremybmerrill.com @azipaybarah.bsky.social & @erxclau.me

A statement from The Washington Post Guild: We vehemently condemn The Washington Post’s firing of dozens of valued employees today, just days into the new year and at a time when the company is actively growing.

It is especially disturbing that Post CEO, Will Lewis, has not directly addressed his employees in a whopping 230 days — during which tumult and turnover have driven many of our highest-profile colleagues to other companies and new policies have been implemented with little explanation.

The diligent, talented workers that make The Post every day should not bear the consequences of poor decisions made by Post executives. They deserve better. The Post deserves better. We demand leaders do the right thing: address workers during this time of upheaval and stop punishing hardworking Post employees for the decisions made far above their heads.

Analysis | No daylight saving time? See how early or late you would be in the dark. Would you be okay if the sun rose before 4 a.m., or after 10? Not changing clocks is a popular idea, but we’d have to live with the extremes.

Permanent daylight saving time, no daylight saving time, or the current system?
See how each option would affect earliest and latest sunsets and sunrises where you live.

see a lot of messaging around subdomains for organizational use but am enamored with the idea of personal use like photos.erxclau.me or alt.erxclau.me (if private accounts become a thing). feels nicer than doing different accounts on twitter or ig since the root domain persists across accounts
