It’s all this country and its national teams knows. They can never be normal. Every other team comes to international competition to compete and make themselves and their fans happy. The USA teams are always like, we’re going to war to KILL our enemies and lay our bodies on the line for HONOR!

The crime is not just the killing of people who surrender. The crime is telling the enemy that if they surrender, they will be killed. Because when the enemy hears that they cannot surrender peaceably, the war changes from a strategic conflict to a blood-soaked deathmatch.

In addition to burying responsibility, the story doesn't even answer the question, treating the issue as inevitable and unsolvable. It's neither, Trump caused it and the solutions are (a) stop bombing Iran and hope; or (b) sacrifice American soldiers (and billions of dollars) to pry it open.

Pete Hegseth is openly calling on Trump-friendly oligarchs to take over the media while unshackling the military from the "rules of engagement" he hates so much. What he really wants is a world in which horrors like the school bombing don't ever fully come to light.
