Retired wetland/stream/404 in NM. Part-time consulting. Geologist. Daughter is a badass Marine. The Guy (who eats dinner across the table from me) did the same thing I did before he retired. I photograph wildflowers and make jewelry.

Having prepped with an exceedingly smart and detail-oriented DOJ attorney for a case before the 9th circuit (it was about a federal permit I worked on), it’s unreal how badly the department has fallen. We spent hours parsing out nearly every sentence of the supporting documents.

When I lived in RI, many years ago (ex #1 was at Brown for MS), the main landfill was fast approaching being higher in elevation than the tallest point in the state, lol.

Will have to fly back here to drive it home after the guy’s next (and minor) surgery next week. Means more time with the bloom in CA - I’m not complaining.

I got a good night’s sleep last night too. In Pismo.
Bought a car yesterday - finally decided on a used Mini coupe (sporty car), the last year they were made. Used small EVs didn’t have the range to go to ABQ and back. This will tide me over. Will pick it up likely Thursday in Van Nuys.

There’s a crap ton of Pentagon waste - I would like to see a more realistic set of spending rules for it and all other federal agencies.

Tbf, at the end of a long, sometimes hard mission, Marine kiddo and her mates got a steak and lobster dinner (and a trip to the DMZ). That seems to be somewhat standard.

The federal agency I work for is prohibited by law from providing us coffee, we pool money to buy it.

They don't even buy dish soap for the break room kitchen, employees have to donate that too.
