@bugdan.dev
I'm (mainly) a Frontend Web Engineer, former Tech Writer. I like to call myself a User Advocate, looking to encourage genuine human interactions in an increasingly generated world. In other words, an in person community builder, currently with ZurichJS

If you folks have anyone near-ish to Zurich (or looking to travel), we're organizing ZurichJS Conf and this level of depth is exactly what the local crowd is crazy for
Give it a look, we'd be happy to have any of you in here to geek out in person βοΈ

This is so cool!!! π₯Ή
This coming from my experience of saying "nobody's gonna use my stuff, there's already 10 like it". Turns out, someone already built the 11th. And instead of monopolies, there might be a whole bunch used
Since you asked π
In a world with 1 painting, there is no choice. 5-10, there's a choice. If anyone can come up with something, what mattwrs is discovery and fit.
Imho the future of services and tools is much like social media bubbles or the art market.
You can paint it yourself or stumble across the best painting 4u
@nadja-hesselbjerg.bsky.social from @zurichjs.com shares:
"It all starts with showing up. (...) You'll realize that the open source world isn't some exclusive club. And if you've already contributed? Help someone else do it too. That's what community is for." π
But I get you 100%. I've complained so many times that I wish I could go back in time 10-15 years. Not due to regrets, but more for the nostalgia of having lived through an age of tech possibility and unbelievable widespread groundbreaking innovations. Minus social media, but that's another thing...
An idea that helped a bit, was something I heard recently from @karpi.bsky.social, that I had not considered before: once these tools become so widespread that everyone is a user, the inequality would maybe stop and the normalization begin. Kinda like websites in the dotcom bubble and after that...
I wrote about some things I'm struggling with in the technology industry, preceded by an appreciation for folk music.
Thank you so much for the emotionally-rich wall of text. Either I resonated too much with it, or your writing is just stellar, or both.
Regardless, feeling every word and appreciating you for writing them down. π«Ά
This felt more like a therapy session than a gag

Npmx is creating a wave of enthusiastic support. Weβre in a moment where most discussion about OSS feels pretty bleak, the joy around npmx feels unique. Maintainers @danielroe.dev, @whitep4nth3r.com , and @patak.cat share their secrets.
Details:
What started out as a question, quickly turned into an amazing community and excitement.
From my POV, OSS was always unapproachable. Not because people are not warm, but because it's intimidating.
Not so with npmx.
And now I have more confidence to get involved in the future π«Ά
This is so amazing! Always amazing to see public recognition for work that brings back excitement into this field <3
the excitement is unreal!
That's so exciting! π₯Ή

You've started with a little snowball, which turned into a whole city by the time it reached the alpha valley
And you were also running alongside it, giving it a little shove every now and then. π
Can't begin to fathon the amount of work you've managed to put into this, where do you find the time? π
I'm so excited to see where this community will take this forward <3
