Bowen always feels like he'll come up with a big goal when it matters. Solanke always seems like he's scoring the third goal in a 3-0 win or a consolation gial

With all the caveats about it, he has 7 league goals from 12 shots on target and an xG of 6.26. His problem is not being in the right place rather than an inability to finish well

With his side feasting on Spurs, an Atlético Madrid supporter is ready to feast at halftime 🀀

His finishing is good! He's scored a lot from the few chances he's had. He does need to toughen up but the lack of pace can be offset with smart movement. Kane is the obvious example for him, Berbatov as well

There's definitely an aristocracy of clubs when you play in Europe, and we aren't part of it. It's less the big decisions as they go to VAR, but the accumulation of small decisions and yellow cards. It's just one more hurdle

I'm in a shrinking minority but I think he can work out. If they can move his starting position further up and get him to prioritise getting into the box then there's a chance for him. I'd certainly give him another season

Tbf, it was hard to tell. No one in that forward line did anything until Olmo was fouled

I'm clinging to hope for Woltemade but the fact neither got on for a single minute tonight doesn't look good, especially for the summer recruitment team

Raphina was subbed, wasn't he?

10.03.2026 22:14 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, and we aren't even that good, just have a lot of pace and athleticism. I fear for Barca if they have to play Man City or Arsenal

He did well to find his way out of Lewis Hall's pocket to take the penalty

It's crap to concede a 95th minute penalty, but I've just watched #nufc outplay Barcelona pretty comprehensively. That's something

Feels like the wrong move to take Elanga off. He's had the measure of his full back #nufc

Ah, if Yamal gets a yellow he misses the next leg. He has plot armour tonight

10.03.2026 20:43 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

This ref isn't going to book any Barca players let alone the golden boy #nufc

Ah man, Isak would have had a field day with this Barca defensive line #nufc

More should be made of the fact that the far-right are generally oddballs. Goodwin's campaign in Gorton and Denton was really weird (driving round and empty industrial estate bellowing from a loud-hailer?). These are people you cross the street to avoid

Well, Lewandowski is really old when you think about it. Yamal is young and callow. And Raphina was only half-decent for Leeds. It could still be alright

Putin can't believe his luck with this guy. He's spent decades having to think of plans within schemes to deal with western leaders and then Trump gives him America's most gullible man as a go-between

I dunno, a lot of it was "I can't believe I went into a job that's 40% teaching and I'm now being asked to teach some classes"

10.03.2026 16:05 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Twitter was enough for me to realise that. So many unhappy academics in permanent jobs

Badenoch now on the BBC trying to simultaneously argue that the UK should and should not be bombing Iran. She's caught between needing to attack Starmer and display unwavering loyalty to Trump

I was really surprised how poorly Athletic played. They were missing the Williams brothers but they were the 4th best side in Spain and it looked like Newcastle could score at will

The Newcastle focussed podcasts I listen to have certainly picked up on that. There is a level of quality a team can have where that raw athleticism can be overcome, we'll probably see that against Barcelona. But hardly any clubs have 11 players who can move the ball that well

09.03.2026 13:56 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Watching Newcastle in the CL this year, it was noticeable that they had smooth progress without out-playing other sides. They walked over Benfica, Athletic, and PSV by bullying them. Newcastle were just fitter and faster. Against PSV, it looked like a senior side against the u-21s

No point keeping unhappy players. If they want to go then we need to let them, just get the best price. Neither is irreplaceable

Not exactly in this line, but I read Ready Player One as an adult and thought it was appalling. Shit plot, shallow characters, trading exclusively on " who remembers" vibes. I think I'd have loved it if I'd read it as a teenager

08.03.2026 14:18 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I watched Robocop as a kid because it was a cool action movie and had the gruesome toxic waste scene. Watching it as an adult, it's a brutal satire of law enforcement that's only getting more relevant with firms like Palantir getting involved

His disdain for ordinary members of the armed forces is on record. He probably thinks a few lives is a fair trade for not being in direct confrontation with the only world leader he admires

It does suggest that it was probably right not to ratify his 56:42 from Barcelona last year. The guy is amazing though, he should win London next month
