i've said it so many times y'all it is simply not enough to not be racist. you must be anti-racist. if you don't know the gut punch feeling you get when you see something or someone making light of your culture, of your family, then you don't get to call it silly or dumb

i need to make it very clear that i'm seeing it and all i'm saying is that you need to learn to sit with your discomfort and either look in the mirror and understand why it makes you uncomfortable and figure out how to fix that or open your ears and listen to the people around you.

you need to understand that not everything requires your two cents. if you're not black, you don't have a say in this conversation. sit, listen, understand. it's that simple.

No one has to listen to me (and probably no one will), but as a person that spent months in a hellhole while no one was willing to even spend time with me unless it was to degrade me and remind me that I don't belong there, I just can't fathom it. It makes me sick. It doesn't make sense to me.

I know it's a hyperfixation. I know it's your fun hobby. I know you have friends there.

But if you're assaulted for the color of your skin and your culture on a regular basis, it isn't worth it. You're going to regret more than you enjoy and the people that harm you will view it as power over you.

A message to all BIPOC that stay in fandoms with a majority white and violently racist community: No matter how many years or hours spent, you will realize peace when you have the courage to leave.

I can't be the only person who gets uncomfortable when people make it obvious that racism is an afterthought in their activism.

People that list off a long list of problems and then end it with "and racism" or "and also BLM".

Like I can't be the only person that sees that as a tell, right.

And especially when you join a discord with rules that are like "no bigotry of any kind" and they list off every possible thing and either skip racism entirely or leave it at the very end?

I've noticed a pattern of being microaggressed in those servers most specifically.

Like this is a thing.

I know this sounds minor but I've always noticed this trend with white activists and group leaders. An obligatory "oh and also you should care about black and brown people" but only after listing the things they decided are more important (which tends to include POC, but they don't seem to care?)
