A more basic game of Cartographers. We got three monsters which were inconvenient for gaining points - especially as we both went out of our way to be as mean as possible! Not surprisingly perhaps that final scores were quite low.

Take Time. After we got stuck on a few clocks in the third envelope, we managed to get through the first couple of 4 quite easily. So have we got lucky or more skilled? Only time will tell!!!

Lots of trees in A’s Canopy forest. A great game with lots of nice art.

Whilst rearranging some games A found Canopy. Remembering how much we enjoy it, it was the after dinner game. M left a few disease cards for A to pick up meaning the loss of a Hoatzin - the game can be quite mean! A had a huge forest so got the 10 point tree token, yay!

Dinosaur Island. A built a marine dinosaur which caused a few security issues especially in earlier rounds. M had to contend with a large number of hooligans but the lawyer helped when customers were eaten. A probably won, the cat jumped onto the board at end scoring!

The TM ares board, we accidentally used the co op side of the board so the game was shorter than usual!

We got to the end of our game of TM Ares and realised we’d being using the co op side of Mars! It seemed strangely short! That’s one way to speed the game up!

Traders of Osaka is a game that we don’t play very often, today we dusted it off. Trading goods whilst trying to buy when it’s good for you and bad for your opponent - it can be quite calculating and interactive. We were happy to share a joint victory. #boardgames #tradersofosaka

We finally landed at Atlanta on try 3. Sky Team is rapidly becoming a favourite 2 player game. Who knew landing a cardboard plane could be so addictive!

Boards from In the footsteps of Darwin

A couple of evening plays of In The Footsteps Of Darwin. M won both plays by managing to get rows and columns of animals, getting the associated book bonuses. A found this difficult and had a lack of helpers to move the Beagle. Great light game.

For the second time we failed to land at Atlanta in Sky Team. Once due to an aircraft getting in the way then we over shot the runway. Opps, never mind, better luck next attempt!

Fighting fantasy adventures rulebook

Our first play of Fighting Fantasy Adventures. We just succeeded having fallen for many optional monsters. Short and simple rules helped us start quickly, though at first we didn’t resolve the encounter before the room. It engaged us for the full ninety minutes. #boardgames #fightingfantasy

The pretty board from creature comforts. It shows a valley, forest and meadow. The comfort cards are also very attractive.

Creature comforts. We wanted a nice laid back game after a long day. Unusually M didn’t just make food, making a muffler and a lamp as well as soup. The game as always was pretty close, victory just 4 more points.

Making a pretty set of cards in Village Green. Lots of trees and fountains but sadly for A not so many points!

A couple of plays of Village Green. This feels quite similar to Castle Combo but with a prettier set of cards (in our opinion). A lost both games as a couple of the scoring cards didn’t result in any points.

Robinson was no help again in Friday, he was way too hungry! The photo show the cards in piles one of which says Robinson is Moronic. Who would disagree with that?!

of Friday before the Very Hungry Robinson caused the game to end. So close and yet so very far…!

The basic suit cards in the LOTR trick taking game. The art is very nice.

Our first play of LOTR Fellowship Of The Ring Trick taking game. We managed to succeed in the first 3 chapters. The two player pyramid of cards works very well it was Frodo in our first two games! Looking forward to the rest of the story.

Bordeaux expansion for Viticulture. Lots of different ways to make points especially for making wine. Having to buy the 5 and 7 fields felt a bit difficult and against the idea of making wine the main focus.

Viticulture with the Bordeaux board at 3 players. We all enjoyed trying out the experts and the other new aspects of the board . Our conclusion was we all preferred it over Tuscany - our friend N would still rather play with the basic board especially at 2.

M’s tableau, showing an impressive number of defeated titans in the ancient world.

The Ancient World is a very pretty Red Raven game. The aim is to collect as many banners of different colours as possible. Whilst this seems like a simple aim the game is quite involved and has lots of interesting decisions. M won by defeating a large number of titans.

Creature Caravan with the new Wanderers expansion. The new item cards are interesting adding ways to help with scoring and gaining goods and coins. Overall we liked it a lot, we’d happily introduce it to first time players.

Oops, A forgot to take a photo of the coffee cup at the end of coffee roaster. The photo shows the coffee scoring sheets and a few of the game tokens.

Another few tries of Coffee Roaster. Scoring went from not enough points to register on the sheet to way to cooked and only scoring 4 points. There’s an art to playing well which A has yet to grasp!

First 3 plays of Friday. It seems very difficult, A crashed out after only 1 cycle through the deck. Maybe they are getting some rules wrong or maybe Robinson Crusoe is at fault!

Wingspan with the Americas expansion. Lots of cute hummingbirds which add length and complexity to the game.

First play of the Americas Wingspan expansion. We enjoyed playing with the hummingbirds who add another way to score and a bit more complexity. The game as a consequence of adding the hummingbirds lasts longer, we might do as the rules suggest and remove a turn cube.

The Arnak board, today with the tree temple. We always use the automa player to help open sites and churn the cards.

Arnak with the Tree temple. It was a long slow climb up the tree as it was quite expensive. A abandoned getting another assistant in favour of climbing with the magnifying glass. To our surprise the game ended in a draw.
