It’s so weird that not so long ago, like, less than 20 years, the progressive feminist position was gender de-segregation in sport and other male dominated spaces. Then the terfs came along and convinced the mainstream that the most progressive feminist position is that women are weak and feeble.

Itoi: Speaking of that mindset… this is a slightly different topic, but take game mechanics, for example. Let's say you have an item in the game that makes you so strong it practically breaks the game. When you look at game magazines, they talk about those items as if it's some bargain for the player. They think it's a good thing, in other words. They don't stop to think, "If you put something like this in, it's not even a game anymore." The idea that anything that gives you an advantage must be "good"β€”it's starting to feel a bit warped to me.

Miyamoto: That's because their goal isn't to inhabit the character and enjoy the experience, it's just to beat the game.

Itoi: I guess they just want to be able to say, "I won!"

Miyamoto: "I finished it in three days," and all that.

Itoi: Boasting about speed in games is a sickness, really.

Text explaining how there isn’t a war on cars, with all the benefits of reallocating street space to move a lot more people with a lot less space and other consequences, including life and death, pollution/emissions, public and personal costs, etc. Providing more choices works better for everyone, including drivers. And more transportation choices support the economic competitiveness of cities, as smart cities know.

I’m not a fan of politicians trying to make people angry for votes by claiming there actually IS a β€œwar on cars” (there isn’t β€” if anything there’s been a war on every OTHER way of getting around since the 1960s).

A politician just made the claim on LinkedIn. Here’s the reply I posted. #UrbanTruth

Oh that's a good tip! For some reason I hadn't considered it at all for larger tracks like this. Def gonna look into how this could work in our system...

(We are using FMOD so should be pretty easy)

The next level of this would be to keep tabs on where the zone track left off and resume from there, approximately... we'll see if we need it!

25.02.2026 16:32 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Spent the morning making it so when you re-enter a zone, if no new "zone" / overworld music has played, it starts the track off in different spots.

Pretty small but really helps keep any annoyance at bay when you're going in and out of an area!

I don't think anything is more exciting to me than a whole 2010-"fuck it, this is cool/important to me, we're making it"-coded indie game, made by a team-up of two of the most notable indie devs still standing of their dinstinct waves of indie devs, over what is basically a decade of work.

I talked about this in a video.

Wearing a 'Fuck Nazis' hat out in your community is performative. And that is good. Performing as a person who cares about your community is good. It's like last year when people were complaining about virtue signaling. Signaling my virtues is good!

Context: we recently moved to the inner city (near U of W) with a kiddo and are car free. We are a 15m walk from everything we need: schools, libraries, groceries, restaurants, friends, work, etc. This runs counter to "common knowledge" in Wpg that you need a car to survive here.

08.02.2026 19:50 πŸ‘ 4 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, I was wondering this too! The way the cities are drawn up on paper are very incomparable. Winnipeg "core" is like... 200k or so, iirc?

I'd gander that, yeah, those using the cars they do own is much higher here than in Van., would be interesting to see those stats

08.02.2026 19:46 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Of course our transit infrastructure is pretty dismal compared to similar, less car free, cities (eg Edmonton), which massively impacts the feel and day-to-day of being car free here

08.02.2026 17:59 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

Really interest statistic about Winnipeg. Surprising that we're more car free than Vancouver, but also in line with the general underestimation of my city and what life is/can be like here.

I thought the money from me alone would've been plenty to keep Native Instruments around 3 more years at least.

My Fantasy: Fabfilter buys them & then makes their own DAW that's a licensed skin of REAPER but it's Fabfilter beautiful & it has Izotope RX built into every audio region. & world peace.
