There's a cold wind blowing, alright. Why the hell is the air conditioner on when it's 6 outside??!? Continue reading →

Wherein I regale you with one story so I can tell you another one, all about amateur radio and packets and little cars moving around on maps. Continue reading →
With half the people in the house under the weather – and myself not that great, just slightly better than them right now – I’m sitting home looking at my desks and waiting for the impending storm outside. So I … Continue reading →
Suddenly, everything feels real. And I haven't even finalized a logo yet!
I did a thing. Well not the whole thing, just the start of a thing. More things coming soon. Ok, someday. Maybe not soon, but... just wait. Continue reading →
Image of a YouTube front page with no recommended videos since there's no history for the algorithm to use to recommend something.
Got tired of my occasional YT rabbitholes making my recommended videos too many things I only tangentially cared about once and don't want to see a bunch more of (or watch a review of something, then get 40 videos of more reviews). Clicked the "clear history" button. Now a new problem :P
The answer, my friend, is blowing on the wind. And when this thing turns on, everyone knows it's windy. Continue reading →
Just like here, I found it requires curation. If what you see is shit, then the list of people you follow needs flushing. That said, it sucks when I see a memory of mine with a comment talking about you and you're not there :/
THIS SUM BULLSHIT RIGHT HERE
That's a fair take.
It may not have a "swing" value, or a good enough one; that's the range in which the switch would be opened. For example, if the set point is 40% with a swing value of 2, it'll run until it hits 42% and turn off, then shouldn't turn on until 38%
You sound like a damned luddite. Stop it. Sure there's bad things about new technology, but don't be stupid now.
Hello... hello again. Hello, it's me? Is it me you're looking for? Anyway, here's a wall of text. Continue reading →
Kinda forgot about this place for a while.

Sax and Violins
One of my cattos (Hobbes) sitting on my daughter’s lap and receiving pets.
I’ll expand on it in a real post at some point, but the short story is that the wife (and daughter) are getting more into radio again and so I finally have a reason to want to install my FTM-400 … Continue reading →
Yeah. I came for fun and memes and it’s getting less fun. Such is every other place I hang out though.
Because then cee would be sed and UNIX people would start spewing regexes.
I mean, sure for Peter, Paul, and Mary. But Emerson, Lake, and Palmer?
She just needs to appreciate you for who you are. Then you can say, "thank you (falettinme be mice elf agin)"
Don’t do that. It’ll anger the Pad.
Last one, I think. Working in the basement server room, finally heading up to my office with ringing still in my ears. Elevator doors open, I get in and hit the top floor, as the doors close I hear someone call out. Jam my arm in the door to stop it, and Cornel West thanks me and rides up to ground.
Years later, different building, older guy comes into my office looking for an officemate who was out. I ask if I can help, he shows me his phone unable to get to his email. I don't know much about Android phones but I help him, he leaves happy. Coworker says "what did John Nash need?" ... oh.
At work, fixing some IT issue, came around a corner and almost tripped over Michio Kaku who was there with a small film crew interviewing one of my professors. He mimed a "shhh" and pointed to them, I apologized, he spent the next few minutes telling me not to worry and chatting about life.
The chorus for "Vapor Trails" just came on, and instantly I realized how much I need my amp replaced so I can play it at a proper volume.
STARRS FADING, BUT I LIIIIIINGER ON DEARRRRRR....
Apparently YT has figured out how to see people using uBlock Origin Lite and block them. Guess I don't watch videos anymore.
I really enjoyed "Echo in the Canyon". Just saw "Sly Lives" last weekend and the first half was awesome, the second half was depressing (I mean, it's what happened, and I feel better for knowing, but it was a downer). "It Might Get Loud" was pretty good too.
Trying some new things to get/stay organized. Maybe it'll help with those "what was it I wanted to do" moments.
