the mantis shrimp has 16 types of color receptors.

humans have 3.

we see roughly 10 million colors and think that's impressive.

the mantis shrimp is sitting there processing a visual reality so hyperchromatic that scientists genuinely aren't sure what it's like to be one.

Only six Iowa House Republicans voted against over-the-counter ivermectin Laura Belin: The Iowa House debate about ivermectin illustrated how conspiracy theories now drive the mainstream Republican agenda.

Readers: "Sad."
"These are not serious people."
"What strikes me most is that three medical professionals — a pharmacist, a dentist, and a nurse — voted to keep ivermectin language in the bill. These are people who took oaths to do no harm." #ialegis

Burning sage — also known as cleansing — is an ancient spiritual ritual. Certain types of sage have antimicrobial properties and may provide additional benefits.

Where did the practice originate?

Distinct from cleansing, smudging has been well established as a Native American cultural or tribal practice, although not all groups practice it.

We have the traditions of many Native American peoples, including the Lakota, Chumash, and Cahuilla, to thank for its use.

Many other cultures around the world share similar rituals.

It may be purifying
The most commonly used types of sage have antimicrobial properties, which means they may keep infectious bacteria, viruses, and fungi at bay.

White prairie sage (technically a mugwort species, Artemisia ludoviciana) is both antimicrobial and antibacterialTrusted Source. White sage (an actual sage, Salvia apiana) is also antimicrobial. And both have been shown to repel insects.

It may help relieve the symptoms of some conditions
It turns out that sage may help clear the air of lots more than bugs and bacteria.

Though scientifically unproven, burning sage is thought to release negative ions, which are said to help neutralize positive ions.

Common positive ions are allergens like:

pet dander
pollution
dust
mold

If this is the case, burning sage may be a blessing for those with asthma, allergies, bronchitis, and other respiratory conditions. However, inhaling the smoke during the cleansing process can aggravate any respiratory condition. Wait until the smoke clears before going into the room.

It can be a spiritual tool
Burning sage has long been used to connect to the spiritual realm or enhance intuition.

In traditional cultures, burning sage is used by healers and laypeople to achieve a healing state or to solve or reflect upon spiritual dilemmas.

Research shows that thujone is mildly psychoactive. It’s actually found in many plants used in cultural spiritual rituals to enhance intuition.

Barack Obama on
Jesse Jackson
“Reverend Jesse Jackson called on each of us to be heralds of change, to be messengers of hope; to step forward and say Send me" wherever we have a chance to make an impact.
How fortunate we were that Jesse Jackson answered that call.
What a great debt we owe to him.”

Humanity heating planet faster than ever before, study finds Researchers identify sharp rise to about 0.35C every decade, after excluding natural fluctuations such as El Niño

It doesn’t matter whether the rate of global warming is increasing. It’ll never cease to amaze me that people don’t care that it’s happening at all. It should be the most alarming thing ever.

No Seat Uncontested Run Everywhere

We have to contest the extremists. We have to fight for every seat. We have to run in races we know we will lose, because nothing will change Mike Moon or his colleagues on that side of the aisle except showing them the exit. open.substack.com/pub/jesspipe...

We are losing stars one streetlight, one neon sign, one suburb at a time For most of human history, the night sky has been a shared inheritance, a source of wonder. Now, more than a billion children see barely any stars in the night sky above their homes. So what does that...

And, it included a non-party in the caption.

Early pregnancy care declines despite Trump’s pro-birth agenda - Salon.com As the Trump admin urges folks to have more kids, new data shows early pregnancy care moving in the wrong direction

More than 5.6 million American women live in counties with no or limited access to maternity care. The rise in maternity deserts is most likely a factor in the decline of early prenatal care. Restrictive abortion bans don't help either.

This has nothing to do with fraud.

The agents Trump allegedly sent to investigate fraud are shooting protesters and arresting children. His DOJ is gutting the U.S. Attorney’s Office and crippling their ability to prosecute fraud. And every week Trump pardons another fraudster.

US farmers are rejecting multimillion-dollar datacenter bids for their land: ‘I’m not for sale’ Families are navigating the tough choice between unimaginable riches and the identity that comes with land

Last month, a Pennsylvania farmer rejected $15M from data center developers to sell his farmland.

Another in Wisconsin turned down $80M.

America's farmers and others across the country are pushing back on Big Tech.

This is what integrity looks like.
