Well, anecdotally, we left Texas in '21 for a few reasons. Non functioning electric grid for winter weather, climate change, water availability and pricing due to the former, political climate.
Back in the day, barrel maker couldn't make a perfect circle to tap a cask. Their existed an insect that would eat through wood in a perfect circle, so theyd seal one in at the top of a barrel, wait for nature to make a hole then cap it. Bung is just a mangle of bug over time.
