Despite her weak protest, she took the book in her hands. Saving his spot with her thumb, she flipped back to the beginning.

(She stops her, admittedly slow, retreat. Turning to look at him again, raising an eyebrow.)

Valerie grinned. Usually, she looked like an innocent angel. A puppy, dumb and happy. But right now? There was mischief in that grin.
"I've seen lots of worlds. More than I can even count." She leaned her hip against the wall, tilting her head. "Why d'ya ask?"
