He wasn't injured
But he wasn't training in full.
So he could have made appearances but it would have had consequences as would almost certainly becone inflamed again.
He was certainly nowhere near ready to be a regular starter at that period

Ok mate, believe what you want.
But we covered at length in a pod at start of December.
His tendinitis was real and impacted the whole training and playing cycle

Gomez was barely available in the 1st half of the season because of acute tendinitis that flared up on the pre season tour

Others have a history of playing 4k+ minutes without breaking
CJ is a bit different as he historically breaks when he goes back to back to back

11.03.2026 13:59 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Its worth noting that CJ is going to get a career high number of minutes this season (and i'm one of his biggest fans)

11.03.2026 10:33 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 1

Which is fine so long as we are confident thats the biggest issue at the club. Are you confident its the coach and nothing else?

11.03.2026 10:31 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

No, you are arguing with me about something I never said (also known as a "straw man")

11.03.2026 09:28 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

No coach in the world uses a 22 player squad equally though. There's always a hierarchy with 65-70% of the minutes/starts from the top 11 players.
Our issue is that too many of our 11 most used players are underperforming vs last season

11.03.2026 09:27 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

All fair. But the thing with alonso is that his style is very similar to Slot. Most of our fans seem to want heavy metal, not more of the same

11.03.2026 09:24 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Well this is an easy one to put to bed seeing as you've just made a giant straw man.
I havent ever mentioned 23/24 so your inferences are completely without foundation

11.03.2026 09:22 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Every senior option available got minutes yesterday so its not a "trust" issue.
I cant explain the CJ situation tho as I have been championing him since august when he was our best player at newcastle

We would have won the PSG tie if trent had stayed on but shit happens.
And if you think a 26 game unbeaten run and never dropping below 11 points from 15 is "stumbling" then I cant help you. I'd bite your hands off for those "stumbling" numbers this season 😂

11.03.2026 08:37 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Mate, we did the same after winning the title in 19/20
Its human nature

11.03.2026 08:35 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

I agree we havent seen it.
I liked last night's selection and it was still mediocre. I think we have to try things without mac in the pivot for a run of games?

11.03.2026 08:34 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

You dont think the coach made the team more than the sum of its parts last season? Are you being serious?

11.03.2026 08:31 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

CJ isn't a fix but its a good workaround

11.03.2026 08:30 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Yeah, after we won the title we really dropped off in those dead rubbers 🙄

10.03.2026 23:52 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

Yes. The number 1 coaching assessment criteria is are they making a team more than the sum of its parts?
This season its a categorical No.
Last season it was a categorical Yes.
Then we changed half the squad. So how should we appraise the coach in this scenario?

10.03.2026 23:51 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0

And i cant offer any counter argument other than are we sure the coach is *the problem*? If yes, then change away. If no, we are just avoiding the real issue

10.03.2026 23:36 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 4 📌 0

And i'm not asking you to buy that. I'm asking hari how much difference a pure coaching change would make

10.03.2026 23:33 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

And then we changed half the squad

10.03.2026 23:13 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Studies have shown that the best coaches add about 6 points to a team over a league season.
Pretty sure this is less than a single players most impactful season (haaland 22/23)

10.03.2026 23:10 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Exactly.
A new coach doesnt bring back players on season ending injuries.
A new coach cant add more pace to the forwards.
Can they "fix" mac or salah?
Tactical tweaks is all thats available.

10.03.2026 23:04 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0

I know its not realistic but I did start off by saying "for arguments sake" because i'm genuinely interested in how much difference you think a new coach would make

10.03.2026 22:48 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

In the summer. But no recruitment allowed

10.03.2026 22:33 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

Can't disagree tbh

10.03.2026 22:28 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

For arguments sake Hari, you can only make a head coach change. Who do you appoint and how much difference does it make?

10.03.2026 22:28 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0

I assume you mean CJ as every other senior player played.
I agree, but Mac was the 2nd best player in a team that won him the PL comfortably. I can see why the coach is loyal to him

10.03.2026 19:55 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0

I've seen too many #lfc v Galatasaray matches and they've all followed a similar template

10.03.2026 19:28 👍 9 🔁 0 💬 3 📌 0

Crazy half. Can't believe we didnt score early. Set Play goal was a mess. Gomez was flaky.
We need to flip Dom and Mac (again). Or get CJ on #lfc
