My mental health is so much better since I started using social media just for entertainment day-to-day.

I still occasionally look up what's going on in the news, but don't need it thrust upon me 24/7. Especially when there's fuck all you can do about it. And the big stuff finds me quickly anyway.

I understand how it can get to that place having worked in news, being immersed in it for weeks, with something new happening every moment. But the crucial thing with good communication IMO is remembering that people have different context to you.

The average person is not glued to the news.

I find it odd that news sites seem to only report current events as liveblogs now.
I just tried to find out what's going on with US/Middle East right now & I can't find anything that summarises what happened chronologically, or with the POV of someone who hasn't been immersed in it for days.
