I continue to be fascinated by the phenomenon whereby an expert engages with any of the LLMs on their field of expertise and is instantly horrified by the wrong answers, and then goes on to use it for things they are not experts in as though it won’t be just as bad for those.

In general, the damage abstraction in TTRPGs are not very good. I think coming from large battle wargames is the source of a lot of this and is now built into every assumption about how dangerous any particular weapon is, and damage only matters in the abstract with little thought to recovery

I am telling you this as a former intelligence officer.
It’s a hard problem and it takes time and effort, but ultimately it is social engineering problem. It is possible to set boundaries and enforce them on an institutional level.
Doing the Work is hard. Doing it or not shows your institutional priorities, and people can see your priorities in action
I hate seeing this sort of post. People deserve better in these spaces. It is a failing on the part of the conference that the men involved do not face any accountability or consequences for their poor behavior.
Conferences can set expectations and follow up with breaks in the social contract.
Roll20 has this functionality, but it takes a bit of finagling.
