Our condolences to everyone missing our colleague. Fobazi Ettarh changed the way many of us view libraries for the better.
Her legacy lives on wherever library workers question vocational awe in favor of finding ways to engage more fairly and sustainably with our work. She will be deeply missed.

Did you know that all of the tables in our main reading room were made by a local artist out of trees from the original building site?
Shoutout to Treincarnation for crafting pieces that are truly stunning at all hours, and especially when sunlight comes through the clerestory windows.

Question: Now that NaNoWriMo is gone (RIP π), are people still planning on doing National Novel Writing Month this November?
And, more importantly, who would be interested in a midnight write-in at the library on November 30 to get that final wordcount??

We love our local independent bookstores!
Pro tip: You don't have to choose between libraries and bookstores. This is a «¿Por qué no los dos?» situation (why not both?).

Today is #NationalLibraryWorkersDay π
We stand in solidarity with Library Workers impacted by IMLS cuts, state & local legislation intended to suppress freedom of speech, & movements to ban or restrict access to works of literature & scholarship.
Your work is meaningful. Thank you for doing it.

A quote by Rainer Maria Rilke in Letters to a Young Poet reading, "We must accept our reality as vastly as we possibly can; everything, even the unprecedented, must be possible within it. This is in the end the only kind of courage that is required of us: the courage to face the strangest, most unusual, most inexplicable experiences that can meet us."
This year is the 150th anniversary of the poet Rainer Maria Rilke's birth. He wrote so many beautiful things, but these words feel timely more than 120 years later:
