When I stay at the SFO hotel with a view of the runway I always see a stream of crows heading to a roost at dusk. Anyone else seen this? #corvids #crows

Termination Shock? or if you are up for non fiction memoir Just Kids by Patti Smith is so so sweet and atmospheric...one of my all time faves
Passed a guy on the sidewalk yesterday, he said my name. A colleague I hadn't seen in 15 years! Talked, I asked where are you headed? Going to the bus to find my way home. My car's right here, let me give you a ride, your place is on my way. Awesome 30 mins of warm catchup on life during the drive.
Our local crow leader back for a foggy afternoon snack #corvids
Man down
The Misinformation Cliff. From "Health in Pictures," the American Public Health Association, 1930
A correction was made on Dec. 14, 2024: Because of an editing error an earlier version of a picture caption with this article misidentified the role played by Edward Norton. It is Pete Seeger, not Bob Seger.
OK, then
RIP Paul Caponigro. Love his work and have two of his photographs. Including a "Desert Plant, Badlands, SD" that I'm pretty sure was the exhibition print from Caponigro's first show, a group show at the Carl Siembab gallery on Newbury St., Boston, in December 1959. www.nytimes.com/2024/11/25/a...
A crow sitting on the railing of a deck, sunrise on an ocean cove in the background, seen through a set of sliding doors.
Working to make friends with this #crow and his two little buddies that live near us. They came by early this morning so I put out peanuts and dry cat food. This one, the biggest, is bold but the other two are shy...so far.
A graph and yearly notes of how many trick or treaters visited a particular house in Lexington, Mass. In 2024 336 kids came by, a new record.
Realized I hadn't posted this year's Trick or Treaters data to this site yet. 336 kids, a new high water mark. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
OK, folks back over here, obligatory cat pic #Lucy
We live in Christopher Bing's childhood home on Dexter Rd.! Wow, never saw one of Brian's filmstrips before....amazing.

A flying squirrel on a bookshelf
We had them in our bedroom @ night, my wife wasn't super thrilled when I was "keep an eye on it, I'm getting my camera!". Took a screen out of a window, shoo'ed it around the room onto the window sill, I thought "sure it can fly?!" it jumped and coolly glided across the backyard to an oak tree π€
CSNY "Ohio", anyone?
Garibaldis?
@debcha.bsky.social somehow this thread made me think of you & your eclectic interests!
324 trick or treaters at our house tonight, an all time high for the 28 years we have data!
Black and white photo of five white men in dark, fancy three piece suits and bowler hats, posing on the wooden steps of a building. They are arranged with three in the back and two in front, and centered between the two front men is a shorthaired white and tabby cat. Despite the men's dapper dress and formal posture the cat is unquestioningly the focal point of the portrait. One of the men in front is sitting and seems to be trying to engage with the cat instead of posing in a standing posture like his pals.

If someone at the CDC offers you a muffin, SAY NO.

Hello world! Thanks to @robtow.bsky.social for the invitation to join, and for the welcome from @johnconorryan.bsky.social. I have left X for the aggrieved billionaire owner to wallow and destroy and promote disinformation. I'll be blogging weekly at rodneybrooks.com/blog & announcing posts here.

Skinny long haired half breed younger than my peers but smiley, smart and harmless
it was a whole lot of looking around, 3 hrs. worth! haha
PS I found it visually gorgeous in any case, just curious to understand how IMAX vs. flat changes the experience
yeah, that's why I think I should see 70mm while still running. kind of want to compare and also maybe see why it felt visually great but slightly off. aspect ratio? curved screen? super big field of view? I had a great middle seat; seeing it flat might be a comparison.
