The keyword is BGProcessingTaskRequest. Only runs when connected to power and WiFi, but has virtually no limit on how long it’s allowed to run.

Next up in Focused 1.11: Inline editing and multiple selection. Not done yet, and the design is not final, but SwiftUI is fast enough to just prototype in code, and it's coming along nicely.
Just released Focused 1.10.2 with improved support for tabs on macOS. You can now filter for different areas in separate tabs, i.e. just viewing Today's "work" tasks in one tab and just the "personal" tasks in another.
Focused 1.10 with custom sections, notes in project, areas and tags, and some design refinements for the sidebar and list headers is out.

I think requiring the ability to run non-notarized apps might be necessary though, if only to keep Apple honest about notarization.
It reads to me as if this nonsense “other marketplaces” they have for the EU might not be enough, they might be talking about actual side loading.
