The military attack by the United States and Israel against Iran violates the Charter of the United Nations. If we accept that great powers can bomb whenever they want, then international law ceases to exist and we return to the law of the jungle.

No democrat mourns the dictatorship of the ayatollahs, a regime that has brutally repressed its people. But we do mourn the 150 girls killed in a school in Minar by US bombings. We mourn the 500 civilians killed in Lebanon under Israeli attacks.

We must not let Trump and Netanyahu drag Europe into an illegal war with Iran. While we condemn the mullah regime, we stand with Pedro Sánchez and all those defending international law, and expect the EU Commission to shield Europeans from the cost of Trump’s reckless actions.

The Commission must act to minimise the impact to avoid our citizens paying the price for Trump's actions, before high energy prices start to hit households and companies hard, & feed inflation.

Questioning whether it has been "naively used" is not something we can accept. This has caused real surprise and concern across the S&D Group.
We must remember: all lives are worth the same. An Iranian child, a Lebanese child, a Palestinian child, a Ukrainian child.
That is what separates those of us who defend international law from those who believe force justifies everything.
The US-Israeli attack on Iran violates the UN Charter. The use of force is only legal in self defence or with a Security Council mandate.
Neither applies here. This unilateral attack sets a dangerous precedent. We risk ending multilateralism as we know it.
We firmly condemn the Iranian regime, the dictatorship of the ayatollahs, the atrocities they committed, the repression, especially against women. Sanctions must continue.

• help reduce irregular migration
We welcome Parliament’s positive EU Talent Pool vote. This is positive migration management, in line with the Pact we helped deliver.
We fully support Commissioner Jørgensen in tackling the housing emergency.
As he said, we have negotiated a strong report with concrete, practical solutions showing we’re willing to work together.
We expect the 🇪🇺Commission & Member States to take our solutions on board.

Today marks the recognition of housing as a major issue in the EU.
We have tried to mobilise as many financial resources as possible to help EU Member States.
We have taken a major step forward.
Now the 🇪🇺 Commission must step up!
The housing emergency must be fought at all political levels!
