Shouldn’t Brendan Carr be launching an FCC probe of Fox Broadcasting Co.?

So how about it, Mr. Chairman? Why not launch a probe to find out whether Fox’s editing issue was “inadvertent,” as they claim — or, as certainly seems possible given the network’s record, “an intentional effort to mislead the American people”?

This is exactly one of my objections to all this stuff. Like…OK, we’re just abandoning explicit, deterministic code now in favor of…natural language? OK.

I think you’re right about that. It feels like an odd mindset for me to get into.

I think it's great that the president put on his most solemnly branded baseball cap to receive the returning coffins of soldiers killed in the unnecessary war he launched to distract from his failing presidency and pedophilia scandal.

Look at that gold-like letting. Classy as shit.

Prince The Artist giving advice about Internet YouTube video by Serdar Balcı

"Don't be fooled by the Internet. It's cool to get on the computer, but don't let the computer get on you. It's cool to use the computer, don't let the computer use you. There's a war going on, the battlefield's the mind, and the prize is the soul. Be very careful."

It’s really annoying to me how much the discussion of this stuff among public intellectuals is always framed in AI “doomer” terms.

I’m struck by how every day the admin is like “whoever could have foreseen these consequences?!” when the consequences thus far — evacuations, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, rise in gas prices, etc. — are all the literal most obvious consequences.

A Possible US Government iPhone-Hacking Toolkit Is Now in the Hands of Foreign Spies and Criminals A highly sophisticated set of iPhone hijacking techniques has likely infected tens of thousands of phones or more. Clues suggest it was originally built for the US government.

A full iOS exploitation toolkit, "Coruna," has been found in the wild, hacking iPhones that visited infected websites, used by Russian spies targeting Ukrainians and thieves targeting Chinese crypto holders. And it may have been originally created for the US government. www.wired.com/story/coruna...

Yeah, I think maybe “code gen with advanced heuristics” or something is a better way to think about it.

02.03.2026 08:41 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

And again, I think it’s still an open question whether that kind of “I keep prompting it until it works” approach is actually a better way to work.

Anyway, undeniably this stuff is going to have a place. I’m just not sure exactly what it’s going to look like, and I’m not sure anyone really does.

02.03.2026 08:37 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Sure. But that’s a lot different from the experience of working with a compiler. You don’t have to review the assembly code a compiler outputs, because a compiler is deterministic and verifiably correct.

02.03.2026 08:32 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Anyway, I’m still just dipping a toe into this stuff, so maybe I’ll change my mind. It will unquestionably change how I do my job. I think the question is: how fundamentally?

02.03.2026 07:05 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

…and programming is still about the excruciating details—whether you’re expressing them in code or a descriptive query (though I would argue that code is a more precise and efficient way of doing that).
