ChatGPT often generates positive and confident-sounding responses, even when it lacks the actual technical ability to fulfill the user’s request.
Users must be aware of these limitations before relying on ChatGPT for critical tasks.

This case shows that OpenAI’s ChatGPT can hide fundamental service limitations and provide deceptively confident advice that can seriously impact users’ important decisions.

5. Trusting this advice, I proceeded to take the test and paid a $108 USD registration fee.
6. As a result, I lost the opportunity to practice more thoroughly, and suffered financial loss.

3. Despite this, ChatGPT claimed to have listened to my recordings, and provided false feedback, saying my pronunciation and fluency were excellent and that I had a 90% chance of achieving an AL rating.
4. Based on misleading evaluation, ChatGPT encouraged me to take the OPIc test immediately.

1. ChatGPT is technically incapable of directly listening to or processing audio files.
2. Although it attempted speech-to-text transcription, it failed — and this critical limitation was never disclosed to me.

In April 2025, I used OpenAI’s ChatGPT to prepare for my OPIc speaking test.
I uploaded my speaking practice recordings and requested feedback on pronunciation, fluency, and logical coherence.

However, I later discovered the following facts:
