Tell a story from the information’s perspective. It is first in the form of a photon. The photon “hits” the lens, how it is refracted, how it is absorbed and transformed into a chemical signal, then a neuron impulse, how the structures combine it with other stimuli into “information”, yada yada.
What if it explained the differences between the different “eye” structures and sensing processes by describing the information path and transformation starting with a photon and ending with our perception?
I was reading this article and had a thought. I know just enough biochemistry to be dangerous. Most of what I know is very outdated. I digress. This article does a great job of explaining things and I would love another perspective. 1/2

Happy #MARCHintosh 2026! From Scott in beautiful B.C. Canada @smallsco@oldbytes.space “40 MHz is enough for anyone!”

I thought you might be Interested in a co copy of this memo. This is from the fun surprise PowerBook "540c". Of course, the first thing to do is throw an ARUI transceiver on it, hop on Globaltalk, and get to printing. Since then, l've added a wifi card! The computer has a "Property of AOL" sticker on the bottom! -- Lyle
David, Here is a mid week UT update with some issues that need attention. Monday I will give you a complete update on high priority projects. Megan from Adhoc will be visiting on Tuesday. We willbe discussing current and future Ul projects.

You said it man. Weird and wonderful too.
Maybe it was having to recently choose a paste flavor at the dentist?
Now I need to get a copy just to find the exact passage.
Why did this occur to me now? I have no idea. It’s been at least 20 years since I read the book. It’s an interesting detail to recall.
Is it the olfactory reference? The indirect reference to humans having seven through holes? The prevalent use of mint in our society? Bodily functions?
Arkady ruminates on the cultural differences between people and how the clean shaven American smells of mint from every orifice. At least that’s my recollection. I can’t remember the passage in detail, just my mental image of the scene.
Here’s an example of how my brain functions.
Out of the blue, without an obvious trigger, I recall a passage from Gorky Park. Arkady is traveling to America escorted by an American CIA or FBI officer (I can’t recall which).
My first #marchintosh stream of the month! Let's try to repair a couple of Quadra 660av logic boards and try video input with them through my Mavica. Also, I want to show off what I have learned about this Sierra Video Systems Delta rack thing. (Noon EST on the 7th) youtube.com/live/-d5jHDI...

#MARCHintosh Hello all!

Greetings from 1Bit, RToD, Superbenk, 68kradio, and others.
You know it’s #MARCHintosh when you walk past the basement stair and wonder what’s wrong with the furnace blower and suddenly remember you’re on #GlobalTalk and someone is printing to your ImageWriter II.

A piece of 1-bit pixel art at 512x342 pixels in size, depicting a wacked-out image showing the giant number "2026" floating in space over a piece of "Globaltalk" text with an Apple logo next to it. Various spacy shit is around the piece, like a nebula behind, a planet with rings, a small black hole, a whole bunch of stylised magnetar lines, clouds, rocks, and black bubbles of possibly vacuum decay. it's signed in the bottom right corner by me, 'nanoraptor'
Figure it's been long enough for globaltalk folk to have the actual image exclusively. Here, straight-up bitmap for joy.

The ZuluIDE and PicoIDE optical drive emulators replace your old CD/DVD drive with a MicroSD card solution for loading ISOs, including support for Redbook CD digital audio! Among other features like virtual hard disks and more
If you are playing along with #MARCHintosh and you need modern Wi-Fi support for an old computer, I recommend this: the VONETS VAP11G-300 Wi-Fi Bridge. Set up in a web browser, connect it to Ethernet and USB (for power), and it's transparent. Only downside is the blinky lights.
