Lucanis stands outside the meditation room, hands on his hips, nervous to enter. Several weeks after losing Evariste, the team have finally pulled him out of the prison of Regret. This is Lucanis's first opportunity to reconnect with him.
Evariste and Lucanis stand together at the railing outside the dining hall. It's a moment of quiet reflection. Fractured buildings float by in the distance, soft and autumnal against the orange tones of a sunset among the Fade's false clouds. But Evariste's large form, bent toward Lucanis as if listening, is a field of stars in hazy teal and aqua.
In the pantry, Evariste leans down to place a reassuring kiss on Lucanis's forehead. Tense and besotted, Lucanis leans into it, seeking what he's not sure he can accept. But in this memory, Evariste has disappeared. His outline is instead filled with a vast, foggy nebula, its dark umber edge moving through clouds of orange and dusty yellow, before radiating into the blue and black of open space.

i took a major dip in health in '20, mental n physical, which spiralled bad in '21. i essentially shut down both creatively n socially ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ aalmost back to pre- pandemic level, crossing fingers it'll keep; cheering us both on! ♥
