recipe review from Andrew Bennett for Brazilian tapiocas I made a half recipe and followed the directions. The batter made a quite thin liquid and thus, according to the recipe, I should add more starch. I added more to get it to become stickier, and then passed it through a sieve - and nothing was left behind at all. I then attempted to cook the crêpe and it cooked fine on the first side, but then folded in on and stuck to itself when I tried to flip it and I had to wait until it was cool enough to unstick and flip. My burner also stopped working, but even when I moved it to another burner, the second side still would not soften up like the first one. I eventually realized that adding more starch threw off the proportions so the crêpe would never soften, dumped more liquid into the pan, and the recipe corrected itself. However, parts of the crêpe flour were still raw inside when I tried to eat it, which could be very dangerous, and so I threw the result out and had nothing left for breakfast. I will be attempting another recipe and advise the writers to test theirs again.
