Seriously recommend the app Particle - shows you reporting from multiple news sources, how they distribute from left to right, and allows quick summaries, all for free!
Great UX, kudos to the developers!

Invite only feels very exclusionary and definitely not what meetups are about, sorry to hear that π If you're in the north of England, we have NUX meetups which are free to attend and welcome to all! (www.nuxuk.org)
To my fellow Leeds/York designers, there are still tickets available for this Thursday's (4th Sept) NUX event at Brew Society, partly being hosted by our very own Kimberley Bottomley π
There's also the promise of free pizza and drinks! π
And Iβm totally on board for using alternatives like APCA, but often they donβt meet those either?
I think itβs kinda wild that more than 90% of the brand guidelines I receive (from large branding agencies!) donβt meet WCAG AA on lots of their recommended colour pairings β I shouldnβt have to go back and ask you to re-select accessible combinations, surely thatβs part of the selection process?
Mine stopped connecting, kept on coming up with βthis accessory is not supportedβ :( Now on the magic keyboard which is good but not as slim
This looks amazing! And the answer is yes, because itβs treated as a proper noun, you both donβt pluralise it and you donβt articles like βtheβ or βanβ. Thatβs why they say things like βiPhone is a core part of our everyday livesβ
Come visit us in York!
These are so dangerous⦠A big bag can be gone so quickly
I think although it can look bleak, itβs better that you have a say in the stuff, and can influence it, rather than just having to accept it, or worse, be oblivious to whatβs happening. Having these thoughts suggests to me that youβve got a good conscience, and that youβre designing for the better
You can tell I spend too much time with fontsβ¦ Immediately spotted that something was βwrongβ with the typography of one of our apps (in a test env). Turns out it wasnβt correctly pulling Lato, and instead was falling back to Roboto. Didnβt think I would have noticed but it seemed clear as day!
As much as I love wearing a t shirt and jeans to work (no ironing, easier to put together, and comfortable!), I feel there's a bit of confidence and distinction from home that comes with dressing up. When I do, my tie is where I'll add a pop of colour β¨ But maybe my styling isn't classic 'banker' π
So sad to hear about @vickytnz.bsky.social, also a key member of @nuxuk.bsky.social, and always bubbly and happy
Weβll miss you π
So sad to hear Vicky has died, such an integral part of the UCD community.
Inspirational in the work she shared through her writing, her involvement with @nuxuk.bsky.social and the always must-read π book recommendations provided.
I'll miss her.
Londonβs fireworks really on point this year, brat segment got an actual squeal from me
Always got confused between the UK and US billion, as I think I was actually taught the UK one in school, at least initially
I have a load of general resources here that might be of use jamesjingyi.notion.site/4b4d49a9c981...
so much of the pronoun bullshit is just people being angry at being asked to treat others with a basic level of respect
you don't have to understand gender dysphoria or being nonbinary or neopronouns to just... respect people's wishes about how they want to be addressed
And similarly since you mentioned it, separating out your home devices into βtrustedβ and βuntrustedβ is quite important imo. That Β£5 smart bulb from Amazon should be on the βuntrustedβ network
actually making sure that your data is actually anonymous. Free, no name VPNs are probably worse than no VPN β you are the product.
Goes back to the old adage of βif youβre not paying for the product, you are the productβ
And when youβre choosing a VPN, make sure itβs a βgoodβ one - youβre just choosing who has your data instead of your ISP. Hacks on VPN providers still happen, and then your data is even more linked. Proton VPN encrypts data, with keys off-site, or PIA uses RAM only, but both seem to care about
Weβve do around 90% online just because itβs easier to get users to commit to a hour call. Easier on schedules etc. But I will say, recently, I attended one of our clientβs conferences and met users in person, and it was just so much better. Real, personal conversations. 100% my preference if poss
And finally some shameless self promo (but itβs free so hey-ho), but hereβs some device frames for your mockups!
