I am sorry to say my reply here was almost certainly wrong

so any U-235 (and 238) present on the sun would probably undergo fission at some rate at some point as it settles toward the solar core. how fast it would happen i don't know, that's a question for a physicist and not a very rusty former reactor operator.

my response was tongue-in-cheek and actually i was almost certainly wrong.

I realized after posting that the sun definitely has significant neutron flux. these neutrons are probably not at the best energy levels to make U-235 fission but that factor probably gets overwhelmed by sheer magnitude.

One could destroy highly enriched uranium (for certain values of the word destroy) by mixing it thoroughly (in gaseous form) with less- or non-enriched uranium.

Faster to use it as fuel.
