Old bloke dies in his seat at the MCG last night

'he's lucky he didn't have to watch the whole Carlton game'

F**k off, by which I mean surround yourself with people who are capable of expressing empathy and aren't just cynical to everything

It's a shame that phrases like 'log off' or 'touch grass' come across as so snappy and remorseless when it's a genuine remedy. Seeing how readily people are communally beaten down into a snarky (read: rehashing of the same old beats) response to a tragedy, what else are you supposed to say?

The neurodivergent desire to both speak in niche references to interests, but also to explain what they mean so no one gets left out.

Strange times on Australian radio right now, where the most popular label in the top 10 is...Independent

The first example certainly is a strange one. My best guess is that it's a solely English speaking experience forcing our common assonances in as first instinct. So 'ei' as in 'seismic', 'height', but then I thought of far more examples that would work, so it's odd for sure!

Is it just a matter of never learning how to do it properly in the first place? Not sure how it is for you but I was one of only two in my high school year level (of about 70) to display any strong interest/aptitude for Japanese, so correctly pronouncing it feels like an arcane pull for me sometimes

Today I detail the strange arrival of "Panda", and in extremely Australian discourse moments, try my best to dispel the very frequently cited myth that KFC sabotaged Taylor Swift hottest-100.blogspot.com/2026/02/325-...

I think about this tweet every time I feel something online start to curl its annoying little grip into my head

I do suspect though that it's something where the edges are ironed off the experience over time. Albums that are scrutinised heavily at first, eventually come off as unrivalled through retroactive praise of the hits/moments. Whether those people have heard the album or not, it might not matter

the classic 'those Radiohead albums would be perfect but what were they thinking with 'Fitter, Happier' and 'Treefingers'' discourse. A reminder that even the rock guys have that 'where are the bops' mentality that they believe to be internally and externally rejecting as a notion

Suspect I will be deeply obsessed with Nirvanna The Band The Show The Movie for a long time.

It pulls off something similar to The Chaser's War On Everything's accidental APEC motorcade stunt, and I'm not even sure it's one of the top 5 craziest things that happen in the movie.

Gotta be because Dream Supplier's "Clean Baby Sleep White Noise (Loopable)" [2022] has passed 2.7 billion streams, people are once again finding something older [2021] to fill that niche, rather than listen to all the 2026 white noise that's out there, smh!

On the blog today, I finally get to put out my rant about the discourse that's taken over Australia about a song & artist that no one else has ever heard of, and how this exaggerated response only bolsters the very thing they hate hottest-100.blogspot.com/2026/02/340-...

I know in Australia we've had a couple Minecraft albums chart, and Angus & Julia Stone had a Life is Strange album that made the top 20, no such luck for Daughter in the UK it seems

I often think about how people over-react to 'instant classic' declaration, but then everyone venerates the era of their upbringing. Ergo, you're witnessing the genesis of that praise and though hyperbolic, it's absolutely genuine. Same ppl who love the Addison Rae record now, will too in 20 years.

This puzzle takes place in just 8 tiles of space to walk around, and yet very little of the solution feels like you're on autopilot. Ends up turning into the most complicated wolf & goat puzzle I've seen. All this just to blow up one rock. All this with building blocks that are fairly simple.

Solving puzzles in Bean and Nothingness is such a triumph because everything is just a little more complicated than it looks on the surface, like there's a hidden wrinkle to uncover beyond what appears to be the solution path. Very Baba is You!

Billboard removing YouTube from the calculations should be this huge, chart-shattering moment that upends everything (like when they added it) but I genuinely can't even tell which week they did it because it's gotten so muted in 13 years

This is to say that despite the fact I woke up on Monday and saw the GRAMMY results, it's gonna look like we didn't fully get the message until Wednesday at the earliest

04.02.2026 14:45 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

You notice it a lot with brand new releases. Often in the US/UK, there's a big first day that winds down hard on the weekend, but in Australia, we take so long to get the message that a lot of these same new releases actually climb on the weekend, means they never get the same chart hype though.

Always funny how Australia's music charts are slowed down because of time zones

Thing happens in US: instant reaction over there, TikToks/tweets etc are made during the day, but Australia is asleep. Next day, we wake up, get yesterday's US news cycle in the morning, and then respond

The Oscars added a category for achievement in casting this year, and if we've learnt anything from yesterday's Hottest 100 it's that Playlunch's manager 100% deserves it. Taking a band from total obscurity to 4th biggest song of the year because they got Barry Hall the m/v role he was born to play.

Yeah, they usually chart higher in the UK (thanks to ACR but not always). Feels like no one here even knows (or cares) Sonny Fodera is Australian so he doesn't get the local hype boost.
