๐จ๐จ๐จ ๐ฎ๐ฑ BOMBED NEXT TO THE UNESCO SITE OF BAALBEK
This adds to the ๐บ๐ธ๐ฎ๐ฑ axis targeting of a series of heritage sites in Iran, Palestine and Lebanon over the past week (see post ๐ ๐งต)
Just to reiterate that bombing heritage sites is a war crime.
Another Irish vegetable grower biting the dust. Absolutely terrible news for food security but worse of course for those directly impacted in the business and jobs. www.rte.ie/news/regiona...
4/ Burning more and more gas so we can keep the lights on for DCs is hurting us economically too. We have often written about how households pay for this added back-up gas, and injustice of foisting this cost onto the public during a cost of living crisis.

1/ CRU's recent report clearly states that energy demand from data centres is a major risk for Ireland's energy system with "inadequate capacity to supply this demand." This could mean energy shortages for the rest of us while Big Tech grows its portfolio.
In yet another instance of the data centre industryโs shocking disregard for transparency and accountability, Microsoft denied a UN expert access to their data centre facility in Dublin. Find out more in our blog๐

We strongly reject the CRUโs suggestion that climate law does not give it the remit to enforce pollution limits.
And renewable energy should be prioritised for public good, especially housing and transport, not for new data centre demand.

Unless Ai can do nursing, hire staff, roll back on privatisation-cutting out middle men, adequately support home carers, build infrastructure and get back the billions overspent on the children's hospital, t'isn't the golden goose this Disney villain thinks it is.
Dublin City Council could raise about โฌ11.9 million by applying a 7% levy to the 140 derelict sites currently on the Derelict Sites Register.

A powerful piece by Mick Kelly on Irelandโs growing food insecurity and the urgent need to strengthen our national food sovereignty.

This is outrageous. Dublin City Council Wood Quay building was built against much protest as it destroyed a vital heritage site. Now just a few decades later DCC can't be bothered with it and is moving? The whole site will become a wasteland. DCC should not be allowed walk away from it.
Come on, man. It was a public consultation, the public chose animals, badgers are great, there's more to be worried about than seeing a hedgehog on a fiver, leave the nonsense culture war frothing to Kemi & Nige, yeah?
The US slaughtered all of those Iranian schoolgirls.
Shame on all those who claimed it wasn't the aggressors responsible.

I remember writing about the end of permanent members and right of veto *in uni* and itโs 2026 people will call Pedro Sanchez radical for proposing what we all know is the only way forward. More global south integration is a bare minimum we havenโt yet reached.
The 15 UNSC members get to vote on stuff amongst themselves. Stripping veto power from the 5 permanent members wouldn't change that.
this is exactly what i've been thinking, for a long time, and it's amazing a world leader finally said it. It's obvious.

I wrote a book called Natureโs Acre โ an Irish garden memoir about wildlife, community, and making a place where life can grow.
If that sounds like your kind of book, Iโd love you to read it. And if youโd share this, Iโd be very grateful.
