Chiefs from four First Nations communities are urging the public to please approach Aaron Gunn with no caution whatsoever. He is completely harmless, though momentarily unsettled by the alarming possibility that someone might acknowledge the land before a meeting.
Yesterday on social media, the MP appeared to crash out and demand to speak to the manager of land acknowledgements, a position that observers confirm does not exist.
Chiefs whose territories make up the riding had two words for the MP - Chillax, Bud.
Land acknowledgements have never seized private property, cancelled a mortgage, repossessed a pickup truck, or altered a single title deed anywhere in Canada.
They are simply people recognizing the history of the place where they are standing.
No one is going anywhere. Canada will survive the brief moment of honesty.
Until then, Chiefs across the region continue to reassure the public that land acknowledgements have not, to date, resulted in any land back.

I would call those planishing faces. They can have a similar use (work hardening a surface) but they do it by flatening rather than making divots.
For autobodies though, they're usually used for shaping rather than planishing.

That looks like one of my favourite hammers! Very handy for gentle work. I used it a lot for the brass work on this.

Being incapable of irony, an honest answer: the claw on a hammer is not meant to be an impact surface; it's a pry bar not a bludgeon. Also, the typically sharp back surface would cut rather than dent the metal creating a stress concentration and nucleation site for cracks, not a hardened surface.

Oh gods no! my planishing hammers are kept separate and polished to a mirror finish.

You won't find many people outside of artisan metalcraft hand peening a surface or drawing out a bar.
Most peens in common use today are just for smashing stuff or making your hammer look cool.

Straight and cross peens are meant for spreading material at a right angle to the peen. In forging processes, this is the primary way of drawing out metal (making it longer and thinner)

The ball peen is used to harden the surface of a metal object through work hardening. A peened surface looks like it has thousands of small dents.
Now we typically use shot peening where we blast it with tiny balls which is much less labor intensive.

A peen is meant to affect the shape of metal. Where a hammer is used to move something in a straight line (like a nail) a peen is usually swung at a metal's surface to change its shape.

Is that a genuine question, or are you looking for peen jokes?
Kidding, I can't make good jokes and I love talking about hammers...

The cross peen is a more popular profile, the orientation making it more varied in its applications and generally easier to wield.

Straight peen hammer head
The straight peen is the least popular peen. It's utility is quite narrow, is difficult to keep on target, and can cause wrist injury if handled inexpertly.

Not all hammers have peens. A common peenless hammer is the claw hammer. They have a slot sized to grip nails used to pull them off with a rocking motion.

A ball-peen hammer.
Timeline cleanse: let's talk about peens.
The peen (or pein) on a hammer is the non-flat face. The ball-peen is the most common.

Today in "The Kids are Alright": I had a student in tutorial that had gotten a free hat from an AI company. They peeled off the logo and were embroidering a nice mountain scene in its place.

A struggle I have as a middle grade author is to try to keep my socials something safe for my younger readers to stumble upon.
That's especially hard when my everything happening right now can only be expressed in swear words. 🤬

I just did some quick math, with 6 digits from 0-9, there's a roughly 85% chance of having at least one duplicate digit. Fully random numbers still look like they have patterns to our silly brains.

This is a new one.
We authors for a while were plagued with scams disguised as book clubs. "Hi we picked your book for our book club" followed by "we need a lot of money."
Today: I got an email purportedly from another AUTHOR.
It's definitely a scam. These are so painfully cruel.

I wonder if it's like hospitals and fax machines. Communication standards and practices were developed in another era, and would have to be rewritten at the federal level to change.
