It's just a single, two-hour loop of Gina Davis' shot glass scene from A Long Kiss Goodnight.

This argument from Altman is stupid sophistry, of course. But I think it shows that the VC class has gone beyond "the ends justify the means" to "there is no difference between means and ends". Everything is a tool with no purpose, people included. No purpose of course, save their own petty desires.
I'm generally anti-bullying, but this picture caused me to make involuntary "stuffing in locker" motions.
To quote someone cleverer than I: "There's a reason they don't call him Thomas Thinkerton Williams"
I did pretty much exactly this in my will and my partner was like "great, cremation, easy". Highly recommend finding a partner that with strong opinions and a decisive nature. (Also, read marrowmagazine.com/all-the-ways... for more about me trying to dispose of my own body.)
Liberalism can only ever wear the masks of the radicals it slaughtered
Moreover, ICE must be destroyed
Pic of Pontevedra from the air.
βIt's not my duty as Mayor to make sure you have a parking spot. For me it's the same as if you bought a cow, or a refrigerator, and then asked me where you're going to put them.β β Mayor of Pontevedra, Spain (re-elected 6 times)
in 2026 im gonna log out of my email and put on some chain mail
This thread is very well put. I'm a lefty anarchist through-and-through but, like, I'm well aware that I'm going to live and labor under capitalism until I die. Folks shouldn't feel bad about getting money however they can in order to push that death date further into the future.
Made a site comparing the sizes of living things :)
The great Julius Csotonyi spent 5 months painting over 60 illustrations for the site, no ai used

Not just _Crash_, no. A lot of his work deals with the sublimation of suburban tedium into violence. A great place to start on both his works and that theme is _High-Rise_.
J.G. Ballard was the prophet of our generation.
Honestly the funniest thing to me about that Whoβs a Good Boy trophy is that *FIFA* made a trophy of *hands* reaching for a ball
"To Mr. and Mrs. Grumley, a child, Toss."
CTRL+F "house rules". The author of this piece has never played D&D. If people want the non-woke stuff back in, they'll just put it back in. I come bearing this message on behalf of every table who has completely ignored encumbrance rules for the past several decades.
if you had only one day left on earth, what would you do? would you waste it or would you make sure to tell me the location of your safe and its combination?
What is that rust-colored stain on his pajamas? It looks like he spilled some of his child's blood on himself.
Strong dub. Nicely done.
Which David Cronenberg movie is this?
It is truly wild how insightful Turing's original Imitation Game paper was. I've taken to just quoting Turing's own words to people talking about the 'Turing Test' w/r/t LLMs in the past few months:
"The original question, 'Can machines think?' I believe to be too meaningless to deserve discussion"
Why are the letters reject fortune cookies?
You were going to be my long-shot celebrity invite to a ballyhoo this weekend, but I guess now I have to send this hand-made card to John Darnielle instead...
I hiked Hadrian's Wall a couple of years ago and my favorite fact I learned is that the reason the wall is most visible in the most remote places (e.g. on top of the Great Whin Sill) is that it was too annoying for post-Roman folks to hike up there and pull stones off of it to make houses out of.
I want to get this engraved on a desk plaque. I work in cybersecurity. I only have a career because code that runs usually runs in undesirable ways. (Also, I've become convinced that LLMs are going to give me another decade or two of easy job security.)
When The Germs played their first gig, they didn't even know how to play their instruments. They created something deeply human and great. AI is definitionally incapable of giving us something that is great in the way The Germs were great.

They'll have to toss a copy of a long-out-of-print operator's manual for an obscure mainframe into the cylinder like putting a treat at the back of a cat's cage to get it to go to the vet.
A photoshopped image of a Clifford the Big Red Dog children's book cover. In it, Clifford is pushing a branch with a stranded cat on it down towards the ground. The title reads "Clifford Fucking Launches a Cat"
Rest well and thank you for all the light you've shed.
*everybody who has paid off or is still paying off their bachelor's degree in classics* OK THANKS CHRIS I'VE GOT THIS IT'S GENITIVE OF SUUM GENUS, "HIS/HER/ITS OWN KIND," GENITIVE OF ATTRIBUTE, YOU GOT ANY MORE QUESTIONS LIKE THIS YOU CALL ME UP OK I'M RIGHT OVER HERE
I think they're a negative for infrastructure (they interrupt meaningful local communities which could share infrastructure) and that statistics are a red herring. The need for statistics at a fixed level of abstraction is just an expression of the government demand for legibility over everything.
