there was probably an apocalyptic prophet called Yeshua with a wealthy patron and followers

the details are probably an amalgamation from a game of telephone and natural embellishment from people storytelling and mixing in ideas they learned elsewhere

things tend to grow in the retelling

hey how about Siddhartha Gautama or Laozi or Confucius or Muhammad

like dude, people build followings all the time. sometimes they strike a chord for whatever reason and take off

I'm not a fan of Christianity as an institution controlling society, but there nothing special about its founding

and apocalyptic cult leaders getting a wealthy patron to fund a commune (or gaining wealth and funding their own) is A Thing humans do regardless of era

sometimes stuff pops off

There's nothing too outlandish about a charismatic guy assembling a cult following for the time period, and Yeshua was a common enough name.

Doesn't strain plausiblity even without the documentation.

Of course. If they buy shoes that fit, it opens an opportunity for backstabbing by telling the boss that they questioned his impeccable judgement. They know how that ends.

So they all wear the stupid clown shoes.

That, and they're actually okay with not getting their paltry asks. It's all theater.

how my fellow USians haven't figured out that if you never want to get a gun pointed at you, don't go shooting at people

they tend to shoot back eventually

hey now, come on. Canada burned down the original White House, that's got to count for something

(it doesn't)

Makes sense for kids who are growing fast when you can't afford to buy them new shoes very often.

Speaking from experience, loose shoes hurt way less and are easier to walk in than shoes that immediately get way too tight.

People who are basically done growing? No excuse.

the meeting wouldn't continue

the egomaniacal asshole would stop everything to shit on them from orbit for daring to second-guess his faultless judgement

these are not normal people

they're not even normal narcissists

Yeah. That. They totally would, too.

My conspiracy brain says the reason is they're all backstabbing ghouls and if they bought shoes that fit someone would snitch and they'd become the target of Trump's ire.

11.03.2026 14:20 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Want to bet they don't because they know someone would snitch on them and it would make Trump mad?

lol does that mean the US did it

They keep half-assing the building part with slush funds for their corporate donors and hyper-specific requirements for project funding that ensures their donors are the ones who get the cash

No no no. You have to be "reasonable" and pre-negotiate with yourself such that your initial offer is the least you will accept.

This is how the professionals in Congress always do it. Who are we to argue with their genius negotiation tactics?

11.03.2026 14:07 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Even for a few months. Planned repairs aren't just going to be deferred, they're going to be canceled entirely. In the middle of prime construction season.

You can't wish back lost time.

Eliminating the gas tax is a tiny short term gain for long-term damaging of infrastructure maintenance.

That's part of why people are so mad about this. Democrats keep shortchanging our futures in more subtle ways than Republicans while pretending they're helping.

11.03.2026 14:01 ๐Ÿ‘ 5 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

their economic and foreign policy goals are identical to Republicans'

Have to wonder how many have been fired or forced out in the past year as a result of agency budget gutting and political loyalty tests.

11.03.2026 07:27 ๐Ÿ‘ 3 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

there is something right with you

don't you dare ever let go of that playful whimsy

10.03.2026 17:52 ๐Ÿ‘ 0 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

yeah, they fucking love making piles of brown corpses

knowing the intent of the work is an important part of critiquing anything

IMO if a movie that sets out to be heaps of dumb fun succeeds in that goal, that's great!

life fucking sucks, it's okay to relax and embrace goofball stuff sometimes

I just spent hours making a bulk batch of dark caramelized onions in ghee to save time making Ethiopian stews later. Going to the same thing with oil for veg dishes next.

Pretty sure most of the nutrition in the onions is gone after that. Why isn't that considered ultra-processed?

Total BS.

Don't think Vivian wants his apologies at this point. Just for him to leave her and *all* of her siblings alone.

Some people don't get the luxury of giving apologies.

He tried to walk away, but like the impulsive idiot he is, he signed an extremely well-written contract for a meme price that didn't let him renege because Twitter saw his shenanigans coming.

Now he's trying to rewrite history.

odds of repeatedly finding and selectively responding to the same tiny account you don't follow buried in the bottom of multiple posts is nil

playing unironically with obvious sockpuppet accounts isn't considered extremely gauche at best or anything
