Yes - I've long believed this is both the crux and the appeal. A simple (if also horrific) system that allows people to do whatever they what, just as long as they "let Jesus into their heart" (which they are the only arbiter of).

Part of Trump’s mass appeal (and of why he’s so dangerous) is that he really seems to share Joe Barstool’s worldview that there are no complex problems: Everything has a simple brute solution, which previous leaders were somehow too stupid or weak to deploy.

And that’s what kills me. He has had basically any and every opportunity to learn that one could imagine in life. He chooses not to learn, every time. From expensive schools to being POTUS, and all the access of being famous and “rich” between.
