My copy of the re-release just arrived, and reading the liner notes was heartbreaking. I donβt think Iβd grasped how close they came to mainstream, only for it all to go so wrong π
A handicap blue and white painted sign on the asphalt of a parking space. The symbols are meant to be a pregnant women and a baby stroller, but it doesn't look like that. It looks like pac man being killed with scissors next to a dancer
Twerkers at the barbeque get priority parking π«‘
Yeah that looks like the better way of doing it!
I assumed it was vibes, rather supermarket aisle
A very sweet toasted hot cross bun, with bacon and fried egg filling visible, on a wooden board instead of a plate. Presumably because the wood helps absorb the dripping honey and butter
Had a Hot Cross Bun bacon and egg sandwich with brown butter. It felt like a good idea, but one to file under βa bit muchβ
I *love love love* Curve. I tearfully watch all the bands from the 90s reunite, write some of the best music of their careers and tourβ¦ all except Curveβ¦
If you're a fan of British Folk Horror, please support this innovative idea! Withered Hill was the best fiction I read last year, and has stayed with me (went on to read Scuttler's Cove, and now in the middle of Scratch Moss). It's such a rich universe and I would LOVE to see this project happen!
Grateful for this repost Suw, I hadn't seen this!
Also, meant to say that The One Footer/Unfinished Business version of the episode has short snippets of each track and is only 1hr 11m. The Troika version has the full tracks so is a hefty 2h 16m!
Recording this episode has been one of my favourite things I've done this year. Maybe I should do Troika episodes involving other people's choicesβ¦
It's crossover podcast Friday! Troika episode #60 is a coagulation of One Footer in the Grave (who I co-host with @marcus-lillington.bsky.social & @allthatmalarkey.bsky.social) with Unfinished Business (Andy & @clagnut.com).
We chat about our three favourite songs π₯°

Daughter tips me off that the new Harry Styles album (Kiss all the time. Disco occasionally) has elements of Passion Pit and Postal Service. It really does! π
The problem with Bandcamp Friday is that I wonβt see any email notifications from US/Canada bands until tomorrow morning π
Remove it, donβt just label it.
(But then thereβs always the grey areas, such as The Beatles βNow and thenβ for example)

A fisheye photo of me performing at Whelans in Dublin.
Folks of BlueSky! I've got a range of gigs coming up in the next few weeks, places what I missed out in my big tour of last Autumn.
Come and get the full Warrington-Runcorn New Town Development Plan experience at Leeds, Oxford, Liverpool and Llandudno!

Mucking around with the CSS to customise the Qobuz web player and desktop app, I keep muttering to myself βhave they not heard of the flippinβ cascade?!β.
Then I see the word that explains it all: βTailwindβ.

Totally, Iβd heard that team were going to do @benaaronovitch.bsky.socialβs Rivers of London series, and willing that to happen with every fibre.
One of those captcha things. This one says βselect all images with bicycles. Click verify once there are none leftβ. There are 9 squares - 4 contain photos of bicycle seats, with the remaining 5 showing the beautiful head and face of a grey greyhound with a white stripe going from the top of their head to the tip of their nose.
Hats off to whoever did this (and the beautiful model).
OOh, what is it?
I've been unemployed for a few months. I now set myself pretend jobs to prevent the rot setting in. My son thinks this guy is funny, which is a good enough excuse to make something. Any requests?
Peregrine Falcon flying low with Teal and Wigeon on the water in the background
Amazing moment at RSPB Greylake yesterday when this stunning Peregrine Falcon shot low across the water! ππ
This is the fastest animal on earth!π¦

This is why vampires shouldnβt fall asleep on park benches and lose track of the time.
So much good news on one day π₯°
But seriously. We are back! Next week we start shooting #bbcghosts the movie! Huge excitement in the camp, lots of splendid people joining us.
Ah that's a new one to try, thanks!
Thanks, I'll take a look! I haven't had great experience with ShazamKit apps in the past though - too many false matches, or not matched at all π
What a difference to wake up to really good news! Greens won, and by a large margin. Hope not hate!

Albums - 'art view' with large album artwork
Albums app - album library view
Spite app, with an even larger album art view
There are two music apps that I'm loving at the moment, with large album artwork:
Albums - for playing my Apple Music Library. The new MacOS app ticks most of my criteria!
www.albumstheapp.com
Spite - for playing my own digital collection. Lovely streamlined interface!
