Congrats!
Congrats!
The Vassar Chemistry Department is looking for a full-time (full benefits!) lecturer in organic chemistry. The position has a renewable 3-year contract offering significant stability in these unstable times. Please spread the word far and wide!

Beautiful work!
Prepare to never learn from your mistakes and fall for this mental trap every summer
Led by Lucy Huffman and with @francogroupuofr.bsky.social, our latest in @rsc.org Dalton Transactions investigates the dynamic behavior of tris(amidate)amine iron complexes. Includes a super cool structural characterization of a trigonal monopyramidal Fe(III) complex! tinyurl.com/4ffdj4vb
This is an amazing model – awarding prizes to teams instead of just individuals. Congrats to all awardees... and in particular, to our postdoc @chandra24.bsky.social and his fellow team members for their groundbreaking work on non-heme iron-oxo chemistry!
Well deserved, congrats!
Congrats to PhD student Bevan Whitehead, who has been awarded the DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Fellowship! Bevan will spend time at ORNL studying MOF dynamics using neutron vibrational spectroscopy in collaboration with Dr. Murillo Longo Martins. @urochester.bsky.social
A bittersweet time in the group. Paul Yoon completed his fifth-year MS degree, while Marina Zapesochny and Miranda Stewart graduated with their BS degrees. Marina and Miranda are respectively headed for Cornell and UMN to pursue their Chemistry PhDs. We'll miss all of you and wish you the best!

Implementation of Schedule F
This is what a lot of us have been worried about.
This allows for many civil service positions to replaced with political appointees. This could include NIH institute directors and even POs.
BUT THERE IS A COMMENT PERIOD...

Was great having you here!
Excited to have the first installment of our high-valent iron oxo chemistry in print at @jacs.acspublications.org! Congrats to first author Chris Hastings and the rest of the team.

Thanks!
Congrats to PhD student Lucy Huffman, who has been awarded the Edward Peck Curtis award for Outstanding Graduate Teaching!!
+1 volunteer!
It was great to visit the @vassar.bsky.social Chemistry Department and meet with some fantastic students and faculty. Especially awesome to see former colleague Myles Drance@mdrance.bsky.social crushing it!
Excited to welcome Morgan Hern to the group as a new PhD student! Morgan is originally from Mooresville, NC and graduated from Appalachian State University earlier this year. We can't wait to see what you accomplish!
Happy Holidays from Barnett Group and Friends!
Congrats to Miranda Stewart and Marina Zapesochny for winning Chemistry Department Junior Awards!! If you're on a grad admissions committee, be on the lookout for their applications to your program this Fall!
Yes we’d love to be added!
New group swag, new group photo!
great idea, please feel free to add us!
It's a great day for #MyFirstChemSci! In our new paper led by grad student Bevan Whitehead, we show that a fluorophilic Zn-based metal–organic framework shows a very large selectivity for CF4 adsorption over N2... just not in the way we thought it might.

Sensing that unseasonably warm (70 ºF ?!) temperatures await, the group emerges from its Hutchison lair for a new photo
We're excited to welcome Justin Hao (UR '27) to the group! Justin hails from Southlake, TX, and will be working with Lucy studying the chemistry of high-valent iron complexes relevant to oxidation catalysis. Welcome Justin!
We're super excited to welcome Irin Elizabeth Aby to the group as a new PhD student! Irin completed her joint B.S./M.S. at IISER Thiruvananthapuram, and will be designing new sorbents for the capture of perfluorinated compounds. Welcome Irin!!
*taps mic* Is this thing on? Hi #ChemSky!
We're thrilled that Lucy Huffman (Walters Teaching Award) and Hope Silva (Junior Award) were bestowed with some hard earned awards at the Department's awards ceremony today. Way to go you two!
