...and that most of all, the universe is rooting for me. It's rooting for all of us.
Today, I will do my best to see the challenges of my life as sacred.

What's harder is believing at the same time, it is *deeply* personal. Believing that the universe knows me more intimately than I know myself. That it knows my karma. It knows exactly what I need to grow, to become less afraid, and to fully express the loving potential of my particular heart...2/
When life feels hard for me (and it does right now), I am usually pretty good at reminding myself that "it's not personal." It's not the universe out to get me. It's just nature. It's never easy being a human being...1/
The conversation around AI gets dominated by extremists who see technology as an inherently liberating/oppressive/neutral force.
#Buddhism and notions of radical relationality and karma offer a realistic view of the nature of technology, whatβs at stake with #AI, and where it might take us.
Would be curious about this, too. As someone with tinnitus for 10 years whoβs also sat a lot of βsilentβ retreat, all I can say is I have become very intimate with my inner ringing βΊοΈ
we need AI therapists because we feel lonely, disconnected, and anxious aboutβ¦living in an unconscious and dehumanizing culture where AI therapy is a thing. Got it.
Still, there are likely use cases where it can be helpful. Both things can be true.
Anytime I read about "solving death" through life extension tech and "digital immortality," I think about these. We should (wisely) develop tech that supports well-being - but let's not get confused. Even if we live for thousands of years, at some point, that will end, too. All we ever have is now.
The Buddha's Five Remembrances aren't meant to get us down - they're an invitation to connect with what's true: everything changes. When we align with that fact, we can find freedom in what we *can* choose: our intentions and the actions that follow.

Loved chatting with Buddhist scholar-practitioner Peter Hershock on the @aiandfaith.bsky.social podcast. We covered Buddhism x AI ethics, the pitfalls of using technology to support spiritual practice, and what it means to maintain genuine presence in an increasingly mediated world.
Thoughts?
Thank you! I think I tend in the opposite direction π I mostly worked in the ecommerce space before realizing I didn't care all that much about ecommerce π
π Hey bluesky! New here. Generally don't feel great about social media, but we'll see how this goes...
I'm mainly interested in:
- #dharma & #spirituality
- embodied #ethics
- #AI & #technology
If that's also your vibe, let's be friends. If it's not, let's be friends anyway :)
