I did get to walk around garden district when I was there for most of a week with Tulane doing a guest lecture series.
I figured but also the hotel has a jazz club in the basement and the idea of being able to literally listen to music til I can’t then just go straight up to bed was too appealing to resist :)
I’m also excited about my furnished balcony where I will be drinking coffee and listening to street noise :)

Taking the husband to New Orleans for his 50th in a couple of weeks. He’s never been, and I’ve only been for a conference. Hit me with must do’s and must eats? We have a hotel right on Bourbon Street.
My daughter says his face is uncanny valley.
We are currently looking at some medspa expansions to help us with revenue. And as a bonus, that would allow us to make it an inclusive place for trans patients to go so they can get fillers and laser hair removal without dealing with BamaRush-style folks.
Totally a parasite. But nursing is huge in Alabama - but only training. Then people move out of state because the pay is so low. Alabama’s answer? Expanding the nursing program to train more students to fill jobs. I guess if they get enough they think people will finally accept depressed pay.

I don’t know if it’s still there but there used to be to be a rug store in Columbia Heights that sold traditional rugs. They weren’t too ridiculously spendy considering the quality. This one has been w us for about 15 years (pardon the need for a vacuum - we have 4 cats)
I have so much to say about this article that I actually finally miss having a news outlet to publish at. Imma try to pull all my thoughts together later so for now this is a placeholder (gift link) www.nytimes.com/2026/03/06/b...
He’s totally going to install Rubio as the next leader, too.
🚨🚨 Operation Metro Surge is NOT over. ICE has received 4 large shipments of brand new vehicles in the past 24 hours. We urge everyone to continue to look out for their neighbors and supporting mutual aid efforts. We will not stop until ICE is OUT.

Never forget that the state treasurer specifically and willfully forced a nearly 170 year old liberal arts college to close by repeatedly refusing to provide the funding approved to keep this school open. And now this… www.wvtm13.com/article/coas...
Meanwhile not only do we get no state or federal money - we can’t even get state Medicaid to give us our prenatal care reimbursements because every OBGyn at the hospital has refused to agree on paper to deliver our patients (they still deliver, they just won’t sign the contract so we can get paid).
I'm looking to hear some specific examples of how disabled Minnesotans have been harmed by federal Medicaid pause for reporting I'm doing at @motherjones.com . Please reach out to jmetraux@motherjones.com with any leads.
Thank goodness someone finally found a way to open the crypto markets to tweens
