Support impeachment. I don’t care if you have the votes. If you don’t publicly support it before the midterms we’ll elect someone who does.

This is what I get for trying to pay attention to the event while skeeting at the same time. On the other hand, the Bad Man is orange.
To be very clear: I am critical of Democrats like Rep. Schrier because I *hope* they can be convinced to do the right thing. I’m not gonna sit out an election because a weak sauce Dem who I disagree with is on the ballot, I’m gonna vote for them every time. But we deserve so much better.
Oops, they didn’t get to my question about why she doesn’t publicly support impeching Trump. I guess it’s all softballs tonight.
We’re ending with a question about standardizing preventative medical care. Good stuff but: not the main issue right now!

What are you doing to resist ICE?
Starts by saying “ICE has a legitimate role to play” but then goes on to criticize how they’re behaving under Trump, compares them to the Gestapo.
Abolish ICE is now the median position in our party. Taking off the masks (her suggestion) won’t cut it.
50 minutes in and we get our first legit suggestion! Put up a clean bill to end partisan gerrymandering.
It’s a tricky problem to solve and this isn’t the venue to debate details, but at least she said a specific thing (that isn’t about supporting KOSA or Dems being “too far left”)

What do you make of the seeds of fascism/abuses of power growing over many years? Lapses in judgment by some with otherwise liberal beliefs (Obama’s drone strikes)? Or perhaps the result of a GOP tug of war between those with real values (McCain) and people who later revealed themselves as fascists?

The lesson I came away with is that phonics is boring but largely effective, and that even smart people can convince themselves a new teaching method is effective when it turns out it isn’t.
idk about anyone else but I learned phonics and that seemed to work fine
I’m not sure what led to the previous departures but I imagine I’d crumble from stress in the current environment. I wonder how the students are taking it.
I remember thinking Dan Weiss hadn’t been in the job very long when he left and it felt sort of odd, even if it didn’t impact me directly.
And lead, to be fair to lead. It’s interesting in both cases how financial and other incentives made it okay.
