a diagram titled "Cycles of Political Revolution," referencing Polybius, Anacyclosis, Histories, around 160 BCE. It illustrates a cyclical theory of political evolution, with six forms of government in a repeating sequence: Monarchy (rule by one), Tyranny (rule by cruelty and oppression), Aristocracy (rule by nobility), Oligarchy (rule by powerful rich), Democracy (rule by many), and Ochlocracy (rule by mobs). Each form of government is shown with a downfall leading to the next, such as despotism under Monarchy, revolution of the nobles under Tyranny, corruption under Aristocracy, revolution of the people under Oligarchy, populism under Democracy, and moral panic under Demagogy. The cycle suggests an eventual reversion to Tyranny from Ochlocracy
Iβm not saying this maps 1:1, but for something written in 160BCE itβs a pretty damn impressive take
A bunny with a piece of buttered toast in its mouth hops on all fours down a footpath in a city. Rounding a corner, it is about to crash into a different bunny, also in a hurry.
Daily bunny no.3255 has a meal on the go
someone who knows textiles, what is this being described here as cotton on the inside, polyester on the outside? is it just a blend like we have now or was this something else?
long day was long. i finally got to sit the hell down with some supper and my lungs are doing that thing where they feel too small and i have to fight my own muscles and bones to get a full lungfull
Always Sunny Mac fireball when they're selling roadside gas
These guys had a more coherent plan for managing the gas crisis than the current administration

it's delightful what a machine can do when the operating system prioritizes operating over telemetry
social problems donβt have individual solutions. in the extreme case, no matter how well you adjust to being in a death camp, the environment is inevitably going to take its toll
i asked my therapist what weβre meant to do when the causes of our stress/anxiety/anger/depression are inarguably real, material, and beyond our power to change or escape, and he was like βyeah, as a profession, weβre still working on that oneβ
The staging is so half-assed, I never saw a listing photo with a wet rag on the tub before. I'm not saying this house deserves better, it definitely does not

Oh yeah no, I blame store management all the way up the chain for failing to handle food adequately or safely. And same for shipping, the people who really do the work are rarely the ones at fault
The bottom of the bluesky mobile website in safari iOS 26. The URL bar at the bottom is minimized to a dumb little capsule/pill shape but the space it occupies when expanded is empty. It actually gets even worse because when I scroll the bluesky nav bar stays fixed but the empty space where the safari nav bar should be turns into a transparent window and so there's a useless section of screen where you can see partial view but nothing is laid out where it should be. Minimizing the URL bar does nothing useful, because the ability to interact with it is gone. You have to first tap to open it, then do whatever you wanted to do. This is literally just a waste of space and time.
Same bottom section as before but the safari nav bar is fully open. It still has absurdly rounded corners that waste a lot of space and look bad, but at least it's useful when it's fully open.
it's great that safari chose to minimize the URL nav bar thing but this just wastes screen space because websites don't display any differently?
it's infuriating, we work so hard and get screwed every possible way
yeah i think that's the most likely thing, it's not being held at the right temp on the journey from the dairy to the store shelf. i've tried three stores and it's a problem with milk from everywhere π«
i'm glad it's not just me but i'm annoyed this is happening to us, food is too expensive
yeah like i store it in the main part but it goes off within a few days of being opened, or it's noticeably unfresh on opening. i suspect stores and dairies aren't storing it at proper temps throughout production, shipping, and stocking cuz like what else would it be
That would fund almost 6 weeks of SNAP, which actually helps people.
does milk spoil faster than it used to or am i just unlucky
oh fuck i forgot the ball game was at 7! did italy or mexico win

This came up at my one job, town is considering pre-emptively removing fluoride from the water supply because they're worried if they spend thousands to replace aging equipment and it gets banned at the federal level, they will have wasted ratepayers' money. Who really needs teeth amirite
Yes!! They came up with this grotesque caricature set and it hasn't changed in 25 or whatever years. It feels like paint-by-numbers storytelling and character design
sequels are an indicator of rot. unrelated, pixar movies are fugly and formulaic
