Trump's war in Iran is causing gas prices across Chicagoland to spike.
No one asked for another endless war in the Middle East—and now working families are paying the price.

If you or a loved one live with a disability, I want to hear from you. Share your insights by filling out this survey and help us build more accessible communities.

Last month, I brought together local experts, advocates, and elected officials for a roundtable to identify what is working well in advancing accessibility in our community, what gaps remain, and how policy can better support people with disabilities.
This is a technical story with stunning strategic implications. It is quite possible the US launched a massive war because Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff lacked the technical expertise to even understand what the Iranians were offering in negotiations. Absolute idiocy.

Experts with technical knowledge should have been running nuclear talks with Iran—not real estate moguls.
This gross incompetence has pushed us into a broader conflict with no end in sight and has put American lives at risk.

Oil prices are soaring because of Trump's war in Iran.
This administration has no plan and Americans are paying for it.

This dismal jobs report is another warning sign for the economy.
Republicans control Congress and the White House. Instead of spurring job growth and lowering costs for working families, they’re focused on enriching their billionaire donors.

My statement on the DHS funding and War Powers votes.

Congress must provide checks and balances on this administration and rein in Trump.
Firing Kristi Noem is an important first step, but more must be done to rein in ICE. Republicans are still trying to push through DHS funding without including serious reforms to ICE.
I'm heading to the House floor now to vote against their DHS funding bill.
Operation Midway Blitz has terrorized Illinois communities, torn families apart, and has made no one safer.
Kristi Noem must be fired or be impeached.

Last night, I left the classified briefing on Trump's war in Iran and heard nothing about a plan to meaningfully address Iran's nuclear capabilities.
Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium should be the administration's primary focus. That is clearly not the case.
Last weekend, I hosted a Black History Month Roundtable to lift up important Black leaders in our community, reflect on their lived experiences and contributions, and discuss current challenges and opportunities for the future.

I hope the upcoming classified briefing brings greater clarity on Iran's highly enriched uranium stockpile. The continued nuclear threat from Iran cannot be ignored.
Back in June, Congress did not receive a clear answer from the Trump administration about the status of Iran’s stockpile of weapons-usable enriched uranium. Now, after these strikes, nuclear negotiations with Iran have effectively collapsed.
Sending my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the three U.S. servicemembers killed, and hoping for the swift recovery of those injured.
My statement on the Iran strikes.
As Congress' sole PhD physicist, I said Iran likely still had its 60% enriched uranium.
Now, the administration has walked back its claims and acknowledges Iran remains well within reach of a nuclear weapon.
After U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites last June, the Trump administration claimed Iran’s nuclear capabilities were eliminated. But they did not confirm the destruction of the materials needed to build an actual nuclear weapon.
It looks likely that Trump is going to have to find a way to pay U.S. businesses and consumers back for the illegal tariffs he has collected.
As a start, I would suggest rescinding the $70 billion being wasted on ICE.
Like last year, I gave myself 5 bald-faced lies before I walked out of Trump’s joint address.
Less than one hour into his speech, I’m out.
Trump’s tariffs have killed manufacturing employment and driven up costs for Americans. Everybody seems to know that but Trump. #SOTU
Tax cuts for Trump’s billionaire donors at the expense of health care for working Americans. That’s what Republicans are cheering for. #SOTU

I'm about to sit down for the State of the Union address. People like my guest Suzanne know how our nation's health care crisis is impacting Americans across the country.
Under Republican control, it has only gotten worse.
Today marks 4 years since the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
I stand with the Ukrainian people in their defense of their democracy and their freedom. The United States must continue to do all that it can to ensure Ukraine prevails and that Putin is held accountable for his unprovoked aggression.

My guest to the State of the Union address is Suzanne Hoban. She runs the Family Health Partnership Clinic and provides care to uninsured adults.
As our nation's health care crisis worsens under Republican leadership, we should be listening to people like Suzanne who are on the frontlines.
