We weren't able to get funding for ENGINE ANGEL and I've been laid off from Ivy Road, so I'm looking for new full-time animation work (New reel is below! YT link: youtu.be/S4QWqyw_vEs)
Everyone else laid off in the thread are amazing people and great at what they do so please hire them ASAP!!
Between the 3 animators at Ivy Road our visdev stats are so busted, having the ability to animate out style and design intentions is so useful. Ana's mockup informed a lot of the later animation style for the prototype, and for reference, this was the original mspaint storyboard I drew up for her
Worked on this little animation prototyping a potential combo flow pretty early on in the pitch's production~
These mockups honestly seem to do wonders for getting an idea and consensus of what we do and don't want the game to play like early on!
Here's concept turnarounds I made of Ms. Garter and THRONE's car, The Morning Star!
By itself it's a regular rally car, but when driven by the two it becomes a biomechanical menace capable of high speed and crushing power.
It has amazing spatial awareness too, since it can see in all directions.
Now that our game pitch "ENGINE ANGEL" has been introduced to you all, over the next weeks I'll be sharing the environment visuals, tech art and level design that I worked on for our prototype! Here's a lil peekie of whats to come ππ€πΏ.
Most of my work on this was rapid prototyping anim stuff so I don't have a ton of personal work to show off but given we've had a lot of talk about AI vs the value of concepting, here was my pitch for the game's animation which I made in a few hours w/ wanderstop's assets and some asset store stuff
So much excitement and love from everyone the team and I are absolutely floored thank you!! ππ
Wanted to share the animated concept I first pitched to the team, I was most excited abt having a mirror highlighting the characters in a car-centric game and attacks that influenced your own movement
I made designs for this! Here's the main rally couple, angel THRONE and human Ms. Garter.
ENGINE ANGEL is a 'car'-acter action game, where you smash, rip & tear hordes of other angel infested vehicles dying for worship.
As said, we're looking for funding to make this in full!

I've been working on a game pitch and story dear to me, "ENGINE ANGEL", with the team at Ivy Road!
We're still seeking funding, but in the meantime I wanted everyone to still be able to share the work they've done. I'll be sharing more as well as reposting any of the team's posts so stay tuned!
oh hey!!
Pixel art of Zenith, a minimalistic glossy white humanoid being with big teal green hair, enjoying a cup of purple tea in a starry yellow and purple mug. Behind them is a grey line graph with a rapidly ascending line that ends off the chart in a data point shaped like a bright star.
Zenith with my favourite cup from #wanderstop
Alta sitting at a bench with a cup of tea whilst 2 pluffins watch and wait to see if sheβll give it to them
Other worldly being zenith floats along on their merry way
Ren holds a cup of tea while staring down a curious pluffin

absolutely loved playing #wanderstop π§‘
Alta, the main character from Wanderstop, sits on a bench in a clearing, her elbows on her knees, a cup of hot tea in her hands. The tea curls into a swirl...or a question...as she gazes at her shadow. But her shadow is that of a warrior, raising a sword above her head. Around her is a peaceful clearing in blues, greens, and purples, and a pink willow drapes down in the background. In the foreground are plants...and a wee pluffin.

A little fan art for #wanderstop. It's been a while since I've fallen in love with a game. It's lovely, and it's needed. Thank you, @ivyroadgames.bsky.social π

Today is the launch of Wanderstop! I've been writing/directing this game for many years, pouring my absolute heart and soul into it. I put everything I had into it, left absolutely nothing on the table, and in the end created something that I'm deeply proud of. Many of you are fans of my previous works, The Stanley Parable and The Beginner's Guide, and obviously Wanderstop is a completely different sort of game! To be honest it's kind of terrifying, for there to be such expectations based on my previous work and to know that some people will inevitably be disappointed with this new direction. At the same time, this is the game I absolutely knew without a doubt that I needed to make. When I went to the creative wellspring to ask for inspiration, this project is what I received. It is deeply personal to me, and I can only ask that you give it a shot. But this project was also an incredible group effort, a phenomenal collaboration amongst artists. I am so grateful to every member of the Ivy Road team, their hard work and dedication is the entire reason this game exists. To every one of them, thank you thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart. And lastly thank you to Annapurna for your unwavering belief in this game over the years, you gave us far more time and resources than we deserved and for that I will be eternally grateful. Alright, I'm gonna go have a cup of tea.
I cannot believe I'm actually writing these words: Wanderstop is OUT NOW!!
Although it's difficult to communicate just how meaningful this moment is to me, I've done my best to put my thoughts into a personal note. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy the game π
I can finally share with you @c418.org's soundtrack for Wanderstop! It is over THREE HOURS LONG across 89 TRACKS!!
It is genuinely some of my favorite music he's ever made, I love this soundtrack so much and I hope you do too π

snippet from the rps writeup for wanderstop, highlighted: "Stand-out character design and voice-y writing make every customer a joy to talk to." and: "Also: basically every character arc for the customers, which are consistently dense, small-packaged delights."
I need y'all to understand how important this particular validation is to me, the story/dialogue doctor

In celebration of us dropping our new trailer and demo for Wanderstop today: behold what the original, old version of these birds looked like. The decision to delete the old design out of existence was pretty unanimous on the team once we saw them in-game
watching streamers play the wanderstop demo & react to alta's anims like blasting away bushes with the basket or dunking seeds into the ground is so satisfying
Alta's gameplay animations were all me and it's rly validating getting these reactions. i animated her that way on purpose. it's how she Is
