sometimes i feel like im hallucinating making posts bc i start typing, get distracted, then i don’t finish in time for the app to not refresh
anyway blackberry mace chest that is slowly killing my client (bc we are doing the worst parts of the body w/this tattoo placement)

fresh vs. healed grey lines— most of this opossum backpiece is grey lines to keep a kind of “permanent stencil” so i don’t have to keep stenciling my client lol. and it allows me to make small changes since the lines are easy to go over.
restenciled the bottom portion of the tattoo & got further than i expected, honestly! now it’s just normal tattooing until we finish, though there’s some considerations for a back piece, like trying to not do a lot on both cheeks so my client can sit more comfortably during travel
GBC gen 10 starters!!

next step is finishing the liner, cutting it into carefully sized pieces and making the stencil… and now it’s time to do the thing 😮💨 we only did the top third today bc i had to line it all, but finishing up the linework tomorrow!
now i’m at the pen & ink liner section— in just sketching & stenciling alone im clocking a 9+ hour day, not including the steps before i ever see my client for an appointment.
and i realise that this whole thread is gonna get locked down bc i showed that my client has a butt 🙄 whatever i guess
i use contact paper to take a tracing once we’re happy with the design & placement. then i transfer it to tracing paper & use the original sketch where necessary to transfer info and do a tighter sketch to get details and shapes together. then it’s another layer of tracing paper for the final draft
for large pieces, i have a pretty involved process.
step one is booking a consult to explain the process & ideas. i then sketch over top of a pic of the client. i keep this a pretty loose sketch & don’t render much at all— just key components, bc i stencil the loose sketch on & draw on changes
me just laying on my couch trying to convince myself to draw other project concepts but apparently obsessed w/archeopteryx torso piece concept
and yes i will tattoo ur nipple and i will be a little sorry about it but it’s for your own good
also these concepts are all for torsos with a chest of some sort— i can obv do an archeopteryx design for a more masculine or androgynous torso as well, but i was just having fun trying to do more feminizing designs/placements for these bc breasts make tattoo design more challenging/interesting

I just used my website for hopefully everyone's convenience so u dont even-
this is the dumbest quote i’ve ever seen in my life. i just need to share this
fantasizing about doing a big femme archaeopteryx fossil torso piece… berlin specimen is the ~fan fave~ and a tattoo i did recently… but man… what if i used one of the other archaeopteryx fossils as ref… they’re all so good
rhamphorhynchus upper back piece from a few weeks ago. half healed, half fresh, half alive, half dead, all of it sucked to get done tho so shout out to marle for making it thru ✨
two days back to back to get this channel cat & red bellied woodpecker piece done! grey bg & lines done day one, full colour day two. back to back days sound intense but they’re not too bad usually!
i didn’t take super nice photos of day one but this is about where we were. you can see the grey calming down already between the finished piece. bonus is the stencil which i ended up changing a lot once on the skin.

idk i don’t know how much people need to know about all of this. i want to be transparent but i also am just. at the end of a multi year journey into solving some chronic issues like pain, migraines, etc. so i feel relieved but also a little anxious & vulnerable?
self employment is great bc i can set my own schedule & be flexible. but also if i don’t work i don’t make money soooo. im gonna try doing things like seminars or kickstarters or launching new merch since my wife can help manage those with me haha.
books will open right before FWA— i’m gonna paste a code so you can fill out a booking form at the con— and slots are gonna be limited due to surgery. i may have a second sinonasal surgery in july/aug. we’ll find out in early may.
i have plans to do a kickstarter around then, too!
regarding my booking & info about getting tattooed this summer— essentially, i’m getting a hysterectomy in may and recovery times vary. i’m prioritizing booking local or other flexible clients for the 2-3 week point post-op and taking some smaller flash projects at that time.
fresh vs. healed on this WIP shibari harpy— grey lines & washes always look darker when first applied, so it’s nice to see it settled! we are adding colour in a few weeks & should hopefully be able to finish her then. :)
so… saw an ENT today… and he said my CT scan DID show stuff that could need surgical intervention :’) the radiologist just didn’t mention the various pathologies like my badly deviated septum i guess… nothing lethal, medicine is our first route but lol. that’s what i get for being relieved

this story is about two princes— but the first rose was supposed to be for a female child, right? so here’s a trans version of the lindwyrm prince for rose. we managed to knock this whole thing out in two sessions! it’s half healed & half fresh here. loved this project so much 🥰
some close up/single shots— always hard to get a good image of a project that wraps around so completely.
