Thank you! very kind of you to say. I think both kids will really enjoy them.
π€£Thank you! it's so nice of you to say. I enjoyed painting them but watercolor is not very forgiving and I have a new appreciation for all those who can bend it to their will.
Congrats to our multitalented PhD Student Asia Kasier for her category award in Scienceβs 2026 βDance Your Ph.D.β contest! π π§ͺ π ... and to a wonderful supporting cast!
Thanks! I think the kids will enjoy them. They're not on social media so I can show them here without worrying they'll see them before their birthdays.
Thank you! I expect my kids will fall over laughing and that's the result I hope to get. I painted them all with a lot of love and not much detail. Watercolor painting is hard.
Water color paintings of two sets of dogs. It may need to be said that I am not actually 5 years old but a fully functioning adult that just can't paint. I think my kids will enjoy them for years to come.
My previous attempts earlier this week. Perhaps I should also say I'm not taking commissions so don't think about asking π€£
I found water colors to be very difficult to work with. π
A color day photo showing the actual dogs belonging to one of my kids. Both are rescues, the one on the right is a foster fail, contrary to her facial expression she is not perpetually worried but a very happy doggo.
A water color painting of the two previous dogs. Please bear in mind I have never painted dogs before and likely never will again.
A water color painting of my other kiddos doggos. They are actually both Australian cattle dogs, I realize the one on the right looks like it's missing several chromosomes.
The actual dogs that I was painting, they are fantastic doggos.
I am not an artist, don't let these paintings fool you.
For family birthdays we all paint together (2 in fam are actual artists) like the paint with a twist places, we have varying results but oh, so much fun.
I decided to paint my kids dogs for their birthday cards this year...
You're welcome.

A quiet night on the Raccoonobahn, a few raccoons and this rather handsome coyote.
This is an interesting read:

The Raccoonobahn living up to its name last night, along with a peeping tom raccoon. π¦π
Nice ππ
I was dead lucky to get these shots, just put the camera here and hoped something would walk by. I knew my chances were high with raccoons but didn't expect these photos. π
Night video from the Spec Ops HP5 Ultra. The audio is really good.
A difficult time of day/evening for the camera looking into the fading sunlight but the Spec Ops HP5 Ultra did great. You can see the detail in 1440p video, but had to be 720p to share. You just know what it would feel like to touch the texture on the antler, but we all know, NO touchy the wildlife
A black and white night photo taken with my camera trap. It shows the wall of the house in the background with a railroad tie step on the left of the frame and small landscaping rocks in-between the steps. A hose pipe is coiled unceremoniously on the right side of the frame. A raccoon is standing up close to the wall, perhaps even against the wall. It is facing the camera with its front paws held close together at chest height. Its black face mask and nose are visible. A tiny part of its bushy, ringed tail is also visible.
Same spot as the first photo this time the raccoon has its two front paws held down past its chest, it's looking up to the top left. Its teeth are visible through a slightly opened mouth.
Same spot as the other two photos as these are consecutive shots from the camera. The raccoon now has its mouth open wider, it is still standing up against the wall as if in a Police lineup.
You guessed it, same spot as the other photos, the raccoon is still standing, back against the wall (or very close to it) as if in a lineup. It looks like he, or she, has done this before.
This masked bandit looks like he knows the Police lineup drill. π€£
Taken with rapid fire photo mode on the Browning Strike Force FHDR camera
#mammals
Yes, the audio is amazing. I didn't expect it to pick up sounds like that. Camera was about 15 feet away.
It wasn't last night, nothing touched it. I set the camera so the rock was well in view.
A day photo showing three cameras, new in box, they're all by Browning and will be deployed today. The one on the far right, the FHDR camera is already out.
The recon force elite HP5 Ultra and Spec ops elite HP5 ultra are going out today to see how they do. I expect great things.
The cover of Lori Weidenhammerβs book βVictory Gardens for Bees.β
Squeeeeβs for the Bees π ππ± Iβm excited to dive into this. Lori is one of the most unyielding champions for native bees around today and her revised book is now available in the US. Get your copy and see what the buzz is all about! βΊοΈππΌ
I thought so too. They really care so much for their bees.
Thanks! I thought it was too.
A honey bee hive with woods, out of focus, in the background. The hive has 7 rows of tiny little Christmas stockings strung across it on one side. The stockings are the typical white top with red main area.
Family in West Virginia have honey bees. This is what they did for Christmas on the hive.
I've always been impressed with the care and attention they give their bees so wasn't too surprised when they sent this photo. π π
The DCL nano cams are great. My main issue is the battery tray, on some of the cameras I find them really difficult to remove. I know you don't want them falling out but I really have to pull hard to get them out and think at times I might damage the tray, but haven't.
Very pleased with the videos, audio is excellent (just listen to that buck eating the plants! π). FOV I'm guessing is around 50degrees, gets a good part of the garden π Browning are always on point with their IR illumination, this is no exception.
Will try photos tonight along with HDR.
I just got that one too, will be setting it out this week. Sounds great on paper. I do love the HP5βs for their exceptional video quality. Hope you get yours soon. π
A color photo of the front of the box for the Browning Strike Force FHDR camera.
The back of the box with the camera specifications.
A day photo showing the contents of the box, the FHDR camera along with 6 AA batteries, a 32GB SD card and a mounting strap along either a ruler to give an idea of size, the camera is very small.
Who's up for testing a new camera? Me, I am!
The Browning Strike Force FHDR & Gen 2 night optics.
I have it on video (high) 20 sec w/10 second delay the IR on economy.
Now I just have to hope deer or raccoons come by.
I'll try out all the settings/features over the next few weeks.
Sorry to hear youβve been under the weather, hope youβre doing better each day now. Thanks for such kind words, I really appreciate it.
Thank you π
Here's the complete snow timelapse from the Raccoonobahn for 6 March 2026.
Snow has come to an end now.
A raccoon wearing an orange hi viz vest heβs sitting in the cab of a snowplow. Snow on the ground. The snowplow has its lights on. The raccoon has a very determined look on his little raccoon face.
Nice to meet you π
