This is something that I'm thinking about a lot right now ๐
"the affect of a dead fish" ๐ love it lol
People naming new AI products:
"I don't care what the name is but it MUST start with a C"
Love it. I will give it a shot and see if he likes it!
Yeah the model I've been using for @opensocial.community is to have a DID, like basically an account, and have group owned data live in that DID's PDS, or reference data associated with the group in an individual's PDS
Hotdog AND a drink. Truly it's a steal.
Oh yeah. Gotta support each shop (which is just an excuse to buy a lot of yarn)
"There are very few places that I can feed my family of 5 for $10," I say, proud of how thrifty I am in the Costco food court line.
After spending $500 on bulk goods in the rest of the store.
I think there's still a place for well done apps
I post on LinkedIn quite a bit ๐ it's uh... A different vibe lol
Want a tour of some Local Yarn Shops as part of the Rose City Yarn Crawl? #rcyc
Coming back from an incredible weekend with quite the haul ๐ and I loved having an excuse to head to 9 yarn local yarn shops!
#knit #crochet
Yeah thinking of making another version that is smoother (and more boring ๐)
Hat pattern is the Wanderlust beanie: www.ravelry.com/patterns/lib...
Yarn is Shade 2 of 50 from Salty Blonde Fiber: saltyblondefiber.com
A gray crocheted beanie
This weekend was the Rose City Yarn Crawl and I went to 9 local yarn shops!
Question for men: would you wear this hat? I made this as a gift for a dude but my partner says he probably wouldn't wear it ๐ฅฒ I could make another with a more boring pattern I guess.
I hope this is enough for the rest of the West Coast to get their shit together.
I've found this as well. I thought I'd start giving more and more work over to background agents but I still only keep a few things going in the background, and never anything super duper important. I like having a bit more control and visibility still.
I think that to embrace AI means embracing mediocre outcomes. For coding that's actually not bad, most code is pretty mediocre. I know very few people that look back at code they wrote 3 months ago and are proud of it ๐
But for images/diagrams it does not work at all. Just hire a person or DIY.
This is pretty bad and I don't think it communicates what they're trying to communicate ๐
I thought that building with AI would take the fun away but it doesn't at all. I don't think I've ever had more fun building software.
Being positive about AI in the software space is such a weird spot to be in. Personally I love it. I've never enjoyed building more and honestly I think it has made me a better software engineer in many ways. But also the unknown of the future as a result is kind of terrifying.
Hey that's me! ๐ Thanks for sharing โค๏ธ
Oof thank you! I'll fix that today ๐
Specs, review, and lots of QA ๐
Building a side project with 100% AI generated code is the starting point IMO. Everyone should try this. It's a great way to learn what the limits are and what you still need to decide vs what the AI tool can handle.
I think I'm still making a shocking amount of decisions. Lots of bug testing/back and forth around things not working the way I want, points like "this customer should see things one way, this another", thinking about maintainability and scalability, etc. Turns out the code was never the hard part ๐
I don't think so but I'm definitely checking this out!! ๐
This is too real
Absolutely!
Sure, I'd love to! ๐
100% of my code is written with #AI now.
I didn't plan for that. It just... happened. And honestly? There's grief in it. Years of building coding skills, and now I'm asking myself what they're worth.
But I've also never enjoyed building software more than I do right now.
New blog post!
