Concordance of a variety of measurements confines the values of the density of matter and dark energy to 0.3 and 0.7 respectively.
New to jazz theory? Here's a rule for dealing with tritone substitutions. For the common ii (minor), V (dominant), I (major) sequence, move downward chromatically from the ii (for example F minor) to the tritone (E dom) to the major (Eb maj) instead of the typical F minor, Bb dominant, Eb major.
The Casimir effect reveals the properties of vacuum energy. Predicted in the late 1940s, it was confirmed in 2001. Here is an introduction to the mathematics of the effect. You get almost the right answer using dimensional analysis.

This is the figure I use to show that the Friedmann equation using measured values for the density of dark energy and total matter matches with measured rates of expansion of the universe. The dark green line results from a dark energy density of 0.7 and a total matter density of 0.3.

I was at NCAR in 1980 with Will Kellogg, Schneider, etc. We wrote papers, and Kellogg testified before Congress, Schneider published a book and was on with Johnny Carson. Nothing changed.
People get elected by ignoring inconvenient distant threats. We will always stumble from crisis to crisis.
