It's kind of like Metal Virus if it was more controlled n the roboticization was like in Bunnie's Nightmare. It's a feature in subjects that are fully roboticized by Robotnik. The nanites that make it happen are transmittable through bites instead of touch for the sake of control (and pain).

Rabbot the Red's robians that haven't had their minds jailbroken are even more zombie-like, especially when they become worn out n broken down from constant, unending work. They make for a good n cruel portable roboticization solution.
