This is exactly how i would describe "2012" and "The Edge of Tomorrow"
Ah, nostalgia:
"Two dead boys went out to play
Late one night in the middle of the day
Back to back they faced each other
Drew their swords and shot each other
A deaf policeman heard all the noise
Came and shot the two dead boys
If you dont believe my story's true
Ask the blind man, he saw it too"
I'm sorry! that comment was in response to another post (About donald trump saying "they died and now they are walking around with no legs). I'm sure that was confusing. My bad. I deleted it
Good to see the replies are cooking him appropriately
This is frustrating but from another angle makes me mildly hopeful. It might force people to ask and think about interesting questions about the nature of consciousness and the difference between substance and form. Maybe the bullshit artist that strings words together isn't as smart as you thought
It's because the entire country runs on brand recognition, celebrity worship and vibes.
That's literally all it is. It's who they know.
Nothing to do with moral framework or policy or any other such thing
It's maddening
Anyone who thinks we can reform capitalism fundamentally misunderstands its contradictions
Why not ask Iranians in Iran about these BS diaspora celebrations of death?
Trust the process only sounds like complacency if you think processes execute themselves.
In fact it means the opposite. It means if you continue to execute eventually good will come. This empowers you to continue to endure even if you experience setback. Without it you risk demoralization.
then why not just avoid complacency instead?
Also inevitability does not mean inevitability in my lifetime, the timeline issue is what combats complacency.
For me the inevitability creates a sort of "trust the process" mindset and not getting too worked up over any particular setback
I should say "understand the source of their suffering under capitalism".
Clearly enough suffer they just don't have a good understanding of the source
It's not only possible, but it's actually inevitable in my opinion.
The hard part is the timeline. After a critical mass of people have suffered enough under capitalism there's no stopping it, the only question is when
ooof. well enjoy your enormous fridge i guess π
Did they not try taking the doors off the fridge first? Last time I bought a fridge that's what they did. It makes it a lot skinnier
super disappointing
It means a lot to me to see my own feeling written out so well in a public way. thank you from the bottom of my heart <3
I think what they mean by "dichotomous" is "entrenched in black and white thinking" and so everything becomes a "one dimensional" decision "good v evil". ie. "marvel brain"
Just what i (with some effort) got from it
"psychological" pain is no less generated by your brain than physical pain. So it is not even a little bit less real
godammit >_<. just take your like and go
This is what happens when you dont have an actual moral framework, just brand recognition and vibes
see the problem with you writing these words, is that i then read them.
And the problem with me reading them, is that a crystal clear image of this scenario was created in my mind
this has not made my life better
Shitwits
im a collection of trillions of cells comprised of quadrillions of magical protein machines that spawn on a random rock hurtling through infinite inexplicable darkness towards who knows what but definitely ending up a part of that darkness
yes i'm scared and mostly pissed. it's hard
sucks
This headline juxtaposed with the price per missile dropped on brown people this past weekend perfectly encapsulates why we are where we are
no
i've only ever seen it used for cornbread
so liberals CAN be useful. TIL
