We had bad storms last night and I had to give Poppy anti-anxiety meds as she was frantic. They kicked in hard this morning.

That sounds good for a youngster! The puppy time can be exasperating, but they do settle with age.
This is my Poppy.

Once he knows everyone will come back, a routine will be a comfort to him. It also helps to do a walk beforehand if possible.
Herding dogs just prefer having all their people together!

I've had good success with leaving them for only short periods of time, at different times of day. (Have the whole household do this). Make sure everyone departs calmly--he may fuss in his crate a bit, but he will get used to the leaving. As an older pup, he'll gradually get used to your schedules.

Yep, that's a herding breed (they only need a little in their dna.) My collie is upset when I stay up late and comes into the living room to stare at me, like, it's bedtime and this is not okay!
