Aha, we have colour on the 1901. Traces were repaired and It's using a borrowed PAL module from another 1901 that has different problems (TBC).

Hoping when parts arrive the original module can come back to life and revive both monitors.

Here it is on my 128D in both 80 Column RGB and Chroma Luma

At least it seems that someone saved it from going in the bin. Hopefully they know enough to give it the best shot of powering up again one day.

I was very sad last week when I missed this free PET by about 10 minutes. It needs to live again!

Attempting a repair on a Commodore 1901 monitor - it work but only in greyscale. Pulling it apart today and it's looking like sombody plugged something bad into the rgbi connector in its past.

Is there anyone out there whoโ€™s good at the C64 versions of Cauldron & Cauldron II and wants to record some footage at 1080 for me?

I might be becoming an electronic old men. I got myself a carfull of 40 + year old computers and have been finding them far more interesting than anyhting built in the last 15 years.

Quickly tested 3 of them. a 1901 would only display luma, one 1084 was not healthy at all and quickly got shut down, and this one seems to work fine and look pretty good.

I keep banging on that I wish the rest of the world would get on board with preferential voting like we have in Australia - our system isn't perfect by a long shot but its slightly more resilient to electoral fuckery that other countries seem to get away with.

May 4th, marshalling at my local Parkrun (it has dress up days). No costume but I do have a lightsaber I was using to direct the runners.

The 2 tiniest Jedi sisters rounded the corner, eyes wide as they saw me. They raised their lightsabers as did I. The cutest battle commenced, they won. Peak joy.

If you're really lucky you'll google for a tech issue you're having, and find a great answer from like 10-20 years ago and the post giving the correct answer was written by you. Which just goes to show, sometimes you might just be helping your own dumb-ass sometime in the future.

I have an almost identical conveyor organisation. Have yet to receive a compliment on it sadly, but believe I've seen a quiet nod of acknowledgement more than once.

Art and images are for everyone, and are how culture is shared. Participating in that is a human right, and providing alt text makes sure that people who are blind or have low vision are included and can contribute to our shared understanding as a society. #PDAC2026

Hell yeah! InfeZtation has been my default test game for all my c64 repairs over the last year.

Looking forward to how Monte takes the sequel to the next level.

Similar vibe but DIY. A travel pillow held together with a compression bandage / tube.

I swear my whippet actually liked having the portable squishy pillow with him at all times.

A 555 timer clock circuit on a breadboard for a Ben Eater 6502 project.

A 555 timer clock circuit on a breadboard for a Ben Eater 6502 project.

And the clock seems to work. NGL it took way longer than I thought it would and mistakes were made. But between getting in some good scope practice and actually thinking about the schematic properly led me to the issues.

Again I tried not to look too much at Bens layout so routing was a bit tricky

Yeah, once all the jobs are gone I can't imagine they'll grant us all universal basic income and have us all happily live in a Star Trek post scarcity collectivism.

Cheers. I've had the kit for a little while and keep putting off starting it while I've been fixing up other machines etc.

As I've upped my repair game and understood more of 8 bit computing, it's made obvious the gaps I have in some of the fundamentals that a project like this can hopefully fix

A small oscilloscope showing a square pulse

had to turn the potentiometer way down to where the LEDis basically solid to get me scope to see it, but its a fairly solid square wave at the moment.

Not sure if its meant to be square at this point or not but I shall push on with the build.

First we must build a clock.
#6502 #beneater

Resisted the urge to just copy Ben's layout and forced myself to wing it based off the schematics. I really need to get better at that side of things anyway.

Just the first module atm.

Decided I don't like the supplied wire so ordered some spools.

Well the 6522s are also functional. Almost definitely rebadged, but they work.
