"It may take time to prove you're right, but you have to stick to it."

Jailed for refusing to abide by FDR's Exec Order 9066, he took his case against internment all the way to the Supreme Court - and lost. Remember him on Korematsu Day, January 30th. 1/

It's not quite the most pressing issue at the moment, but the American people absolutely have a right to know the names of the federal officials who shot and killed a man peacefully protesting, who was on his knees, prone in the street when they shot him in the back.

These words demand attention.

β€œIn a real sense this is holy ground, consecrated by blood spilled here. The cost is high, and so I had to be here to stand in the very place where this tragedy unfurled… I think we’re at a defining moment for our country…” ~ Rev Warnock

This mid-afternoon Alex Pretti vigil at the Portland VA was not heavily promoted. But the crowd probably stretches a quarter mile or more. Americans are galvanized and grieving.

ICE is terrorizing people in so many communities. Vile. The economy is hurting, if that is one metric that one pays attention to. Most importantly- this is domestic terrorism.

At the very least, Congress must disarm ICE, prohibit it from using racial or ethnic profiling, end arrest quotas, remove agents’ immunity from criminal prosecution and civil lawsuits, and slash its funding. The Senate has the chance to rein in ICE this week.

Keep calling: (202) 224-3121

β€œWe’re No Longer Having a Political Debate. We’re Having a Moral Debate.” The federal killings in Minneapolis have revealed some people in authority as cruel, lying cowards. The crisis has proven many other people to be generous, compassionate, and brave. Some examples.

Minnesota's leaders rise to the level of the state's people.

By me. (Most before paywall.)

Trump claims ICE's Minnesota raids β€” which have already killed two Americans β€” are justified to root out "fraud."

Meanwhile, he's pardoned multiple convicted fraudsters, including several who gave money to his campaign and Super PAC.

Amazon Web Services hosts massive surveillance systems for both ICE and DHS.

Citizens Bank provides nearly $1 trillion in credit & bonds to private prison companies.
