Combating Tuberculosis: Obstacles, Innovations, and the Road Ahead Tuberculosis (TB) remains one of the world’s leading infectious diseases. Every year on March 24th, World Tuberculosis Day is observed, which in 1882 is when Robert Koch announced the discovery of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) as the causative agent of TB. This Special Issue features 30 original research articles, perspectives, and reviews from researchers representing 11 countries across all six major continents. ACS Infectious Diseases hopes this special issue encourages our readers to explore the wide range of research showcasing advances in drug discovery and a greater understanding of TB biology.

This issue has a concluding editorial for the TB special issue, written by Guest editors Varadha and Erick! Amidst the increasing challenges and prevalent TB drug resistance, our issue highlights the need for collective effort! Find the special issue here shorturl.at/RE0D0 #ACSInfectiousDiseases

ACS Infectious Diseases This study reports on the antiparasitic profiles of batzelladines F and L, which exhibited strong antiplasmodial activity, moderate cytotoxicity, and good selectivity indexes. Both compounds act quickly against resistant and clinical isolates of P. falciparum, with batzelladine F also showing in vivo activity in a P. berghei model. These findings support the development of guanidine alkaloid derivatives as promising candidates for malaria treatment. View the article.
